Title: Transmission Shell Cooler Leaking
Post by: TomC on August 14, 2014, 12:13:39 PM
On my transit with V730, I have a separate transmission shell cooler that uses the radiator coolant to cool the transmission fluid. It is leaking trans fluid-a bit drippy, not bad. But I want to get it fixed. Is it a rather simple job to take it apart and reseal it? Atlas radiator didn't want to work on it. Good Luck, TomC

Depends if you have the cooler about 20+ inches long with the adapters on each end of a barrel with 4 long bolts it is not bad kinda like installing the gaskets in a old canister type oil filter , a little on the messy side but not bad

good luck

Thanks Clifford-that's exactly what I have. I'll try doing it myself.  Good Luck, TomC

That's a knock off the Sen/Dure Tom diffidently don't want to try and cool a 730 with one they were used as a auxiliary cooler in some applications like on fire trucks. I have several laying around here if he wants one and one is made of copper before the Chinese ::)  , they fit in the radiator engine cooling circuit it will heat a old 2 stroke and V730 up in short fashion

good luck

With the four threaded rods holding the ends together, mine looks like it is rebuildable. It was a bit too hot today to deal with it. The only bug I see is tightening the four rods equally so it doesn't leak. Any tricks to this? Good Luck, TomC

The $108 shipping cost is to Canada.  I looked at the listing and it quoted about $50 to ship to me.  The seller admits their shipping costs are high because they say they use new boxes and proper packing supplies.  He even tells buyers to shop elsewhere if they don't like the shipping costs.
