Title: New Prevost shells
Post by: bevans6 on July 15, 2014, 07:06:33 AM
I pulled in to buy gas in Montmagny Quebec last week, and couldn't believe what I saw.  At the side of this crappy little gas station was a big door that I had never seen open before.  It was open, it was a full sized paint booth and they had a brand new Prevost conversion shell inside, all masked for paint.  In the lot next door is an equally crappy looking RV dealership.  They have a big shop with maybe 8 or 10 bays, two had new conversion shells inside and as I was watching they pulled a third in - it was completely masked all over except for a 2' by 4' slice of windshield so they could see to drive it.  Montmagny is very near the Prevost head office, I guess they use this location for some custom work.  Kind of cool to see the buses all masked up and ready to be painted.

Prevost has several small shops scattered around the countryside near St. Claire to take care of detailing, paint and small items, even delivery.  We picked up two new H's at just such a shop.  The factory and production schedule just can not always handle the small stuff, like last minute changes.  We have picked up at the factory, small shops and also the St. Nicholas service center.  The old house and shop where Eugene Prevost began building wooden bodies still stands near the factory.  Great folks up there and pretty countryside.

My daughter just landed (and is going thru. training) for the position of manager of quality control at Prevost, she has been sending me pictures of the plant and busses. She worked for Nova Bus (A division of Prevost) for several years in the quality control area and now has been given a huge advancement that she has been working hard to attain.>>>Dan

Dan , looking at the new Prevost shells they could use some new quality control mangers  ::) They have to do something to get the tour operators back in the fold they are not going to survive on the RV,entertainer and leasing business only, fwiw My friend at Arrow in Phoenix has about given up on Prevost
