That would be the auxillary fuel tank.

Thanks, now I know.   How big is it?  Anyone ever take them out?

40 gallons.
Why remove it.
Thats an easy place to tie in the generator or heat fuel pickup.

Before you go ripping that thing out, you might want to look underneath your coach and see the big lines that tie it into the main tank. You might end up with diesel flood you don't want.

True, true, true,

Now that I know what it is, not really going to take it apart.  In fact, I'm doing nothing to the coach until I ask 100 questions at Arcadia.

Okay, I say nothing, removing the three stripes.  Really don't like them.....

Fuel Tank:  140 gallon capacity or 168.6 gallons with auxiliary (from the MCI spec sheet)

Hummmm, the area in question doesn't look like it has a 40gallon capacity.   Could it be 28.6 gallons?

If you look on the left drivers panel there should be a tag that says fuel capacity. If it says 144 U.S. Gallons
then you don't have the auxillary fuel tank.

That plywood panel covers the air handler for a/c and heat. Not all MC9's had the optional tank in there.
Most had the a/c unit and heater cores in that space. Note: There should be an a/c condenser in the
foward accessory bay on the drivers side behid the front tire with a screen over it. Then you have
an MC9 with the factory a/c and heat. Look in the battery bay and if there is an angled fiberglass duct
in there going up to the floor then you have the a/c equipped coach.

No ductwork would mean either that it was removed or your coach has the auxillary tank. But that info
should be on the side dashboard tag.

Okay,

The label left of the driver says 179 gallons.  All my coach air is on board.  ( A thread a couple weeks ago).

Guess that settles it.  I have an aux tank..

Thanks guys.....
