Title: Shop/garage apron
Post by: chessie4905 on June 12, 2014, 01:51:24 PM
I am going to add an apron at front of shop soon. Question is:  What is generally done as to width? Just go to edge of door opening trim or go past how much? I plan, at least to go from left door trim on left door completely to right door trim on right side door, with no gap between doors. When the shop was built, I put a footer across door openings to support front edge of concrete floor with 6 inch lip to support future apron. I also intend to have a crosswise continuous drain installed in apron as driveway goes slightly uphill from shop. Ideas or opinions/ experience? I haven't found any local to check out Thanks.

The apron will sit on half the thickness of  the footer (4 foot deep) that runs across each door opening, and shop floor rests on other half of thickness.

A few things are facts, namely, a garage that is big enough, and the apron. Having a 40 X 60 garage, the 40' end had the apron 40' X 20' Not big enough, should have made it 40' X 50' Other garage was 24 X 36, built to build my airplane, way too small for a bus.
