Changing the old RV water pipe to The Pex red (hot) and blue (cold) water pipe! hope no more pipes to burst in the cold!
anyone else have this new kind of water pipe in their Bus?
I am a big fan of PEX! 99 times out of 100, it can freeze and won't burst. That 1 time it does leak, it will more than likely be a cracked brass fitting-- not the fault of the PEX tubing. I have seen it installed under docks for house boats. You would think the constant bending from waves and freezing/thawing would destroy the PEX in no time, but it doesn't.
One word of caution- stay away from GatorBites, SharkBites, and any other type push on fitting that seals with an O ring. Common sense says that with enough time the O ring will get hard, brittle, crack, loose elasticity and start leaking. With that being said, I do have a couple Shark Bite fittings where the crimp tool just wouldn't reach. They have been leak free for four years now. However, I know they have a finite life and would never install one where it could cause substantial damage if it started leaking.
I use the white sharkbit pipe with the pex brass fittings and rings. Works really well. no problems in cold or heat. I agree with you on the sharkbit fittings. Just don't make sense to me or a plumber friend of mine......
The other thing that is nice about Pex fittings is you can pretty much use them between any type of pipe, just get the proper adapter fitting.
We like the 1/4 turn shutoffs in the coach and ball valves in the bays.

I ripped out all the old today! And started in the shower no room there used the sharkbites and bought more then enough to install it every where got it like 2 years ago LOL :) and just getting back to working on the bus again :) It feels so good to be working on Her:)
Thanks for the feed back Guys.
I used some Sharkbites and some crimp fittings in my bus. The Sharkbites are proven technology, they last for decades and are fully rated for interior use inside walls, etc. I have no fear of them. I switched to crimp fittings due to cost. My latest project it was cheaper to buy a crimp ring tool and plain brass fittings than to buy all the Sharkbite fittings.

I have pex everywhere in my bus works great, all crimped.
I have never had a failure of shark bite fittings, proving me very wrong, and I have become a believer.
Thats Great to hear Thanks Guys :)
