Title: Found Scenicruiser PD4501-905
Post by: Jimed1 on June 02, 2014, 04:31:41 PM
Sadly, it is in bad shape inside and would require a complete gutting. It is located in Fayetteville, TN and was lived in daily from around 1991 until the owners death in 2007.  As far as I know, it hasn't been driven since 1991.  It has been sitting under a shed all during this time.  I can't keep it as it is sitting on a lot that I am selling.  I inherited the bus along with the lot it is sitting on in 2007.  I thought I would scrap it, but if you guys think I have shot selling it I will give it try in order to save it.

Can you post more photos of it?

Any idea on the condition of the drive train when it was parked?

Yes you can and should sell it, it looks a lot better than some I have seen pulled out of the weeds. You might want to fix it up yourself. If you can get it started that would be a big time plus as far as selling it. Good luck!

It's been a long time, but if memory serves me correctly is was running ok when it was parked.  The folks that bought it had big plans to travel in the bus, but after one trip to Texas they decided the fuel bill was too much.  They parked it and lived in it while they were in town.  They did the rest of their traveling in a Chevy Suburban.

It was put up on blocks to take pressure off the tires.  As best I can tell 9 of the 10 tires are still holding air and they look new.

Actually-the body looks straight, and looks like all the windows are also whole (very important). I bet with clearing out the weeds, and if someone has a pit to put the bus over to really find out, the bus looks like it is ready to go! Too bad I don't have the time or space for it. Good luck, TomC

PD4501-905 from GMC to Southeastern Greyhound Lines M-866
to M-274 to M-5552 5552 Southern Greyhound Lines.
This is a 1956 model PD4501
And it's a Southern Greyhound Lines coach one of the best to find.
Good maintenance when it was with Greyhound.
I bet my Daddy drove this old Cruiser back when he was driving for Southern Greyhound Lines.
Don't scrap it Tom McNally will find it a good home.

Actually I jut finished the rebuild last night  ;)

Seriously,  I have no idea how many miles since it was rebuilt, or if it ever has been rebuilt. The mileage counter on the rear axle shows less than 100k,  50 something thousand if I recall correctly, but don't hold me to it.  I wondered if it was reset to zero at the last build.  I don't know anything about buses, but I will try to answer what I can.
