Looks like we are at the point of removing the engine from 2054 and pulling the crank. At this point, I am wondering if I should just look for a good long block. Bill T.
Hi Bill
I've got a 6-71 i took out of my 04. Needs work to run, but is great for parts. Sitting in my yard, come and get it. In southern WV. Beckley area.

IMHO- it is always best to rebuild what you have, unless it is cracked or out of alignment. Then you know what you got rather than someone elses who knows what? Use another engine for donar parts, but have the important parts magnafluxed and blue printed (in case some of you don't know magnafluxing will tell of minute cracks, blue printing is just extensive measuring to make sure the part is within factory specs). Good Luck, TomC

Call ******* at ****** ***** *****, (***) ***-****. I think he has a couple of good used/ take out 6-71 engines in the big storage building. You can see it at*****. You could get the whole bus for the price of a rebuilt motor -- and get the motor, too!
