Title: Water antifreeze in air system
Post by: Nineforever on May 20, 2014, 04:40:43 AM
A few days ago i came across a fellow , pulled over having over heating issues . His 8v71 was loosing coolant into his air system air tanks were full of coolant ,, never seen this before what would cause this . My guess would be a cracked air compressor .

I would agree with the failed air compressor, it does use engine coolant and oil.  It's entirely possible that he has coolant in the oil as well as the air system.

I would agree the head on the compressor is the only part that the water covers,I hate it when people close valves thinking they are shutting of the water to the heater only to be cutting the water flow to the compressor or loop 1 line to the compressor thinking it will flow water to the compressor
