Title: Rear Torsilastic Suspension Mounts
Post by: sparkplug188 on May 16, 2014, 02:22:44 PM
1970 Eagle Model 5

I am in the process of removing the four shackles that attach the drive axle torsilastic arms to the frame of the bus.  Three of the four shackles were worn down to metal on metal contact.  The condition of the shackle mounting brackets is my biggest concern.  The holes on the bottom of the brackets were packed full of mud and rust flakes.  After clearing the mud and rust, it looks like only 3/16" to 1/8" of steel is left on the mounting brackets.  Also most of the nuts and bolts that protrude inside the mount are missing or rusted into a small cone-like shape.  My question is, does anyone know where I can buy new mounting brackets?

On Kentucky Steves blog he has a picture of the bracket. He mentions buying them from Silver Eagle Bus of Texas.  http://ourbusconversion.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html (http://ourbusconversion.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html)

Unfortunately, I think he is refering to Eagle Bus that moved to Gallatin TN that went out of business a couple years ago.

I am also open to the idea of chopping the mounts and surrounding framework out of a donor bus in better condition that is being parted out.
