I'm replacing the blower drive boot and discovered that I have the one with the metal insert. Clifford, do(https://busconversionmagazine.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.tapatalk.com%2Fd%2F14%2F05%2F11%2Fytaqynub.jpg&hash=5b690435d2b21020e867c2f3a7518b5f58f0e1a6) I really have to remove the blower to replace? I already have the dogbone out. Damn I was hoping to be putting this thing back together, not taking it further apart. Either the blower or the rear cover. I changed mine when I had the rear cover off. Aside from being heavy and hard to clean for reinstall, the rear cover is easy to take off. You could find out what cam timing you have with the cover off, and putting a fresh gasket with some Loctite aviation gasket sealant is always a good idea, that is a common place for leaks.

I'm trying to figure out what that boot does any ways. Does it keep the elements out? Or is there air pressure in there from the blower, so any damage to the boot would result in oil and air blowing out of any cracks or cuts?
Plenty of oil will leak it's for oil return
Perfect time to change from that older setup to the later by changing the nose on the blower getting rid of that rubber & tube setup. Me, I find that old style is a pain & harder to control the oil leaks.
