Title: Prevost parts
Post by: dbenck on April 26, 2014, 07:01:47 AM
Hello all...have a 2001 XLII-45 with a bent front drivers IFS axle
Prevost part # Y2-1005-50  Coach is at Prevost in TN and I am
told that this part does not exist in USA/Canada..Mfg wants order
of 200+ to make more in Europe, Dana I think? Where would I
look for salvage coach 2000 - 2003 for possible good front end ?
I have the 16,500 Lbs front end.

Thanks,
David P. Benck

It is the driver's side cast member that has the air bag
on top and the wheel on the bottom. It's listed
as an axle in my Prevost parts break-out. As for
"how" that is the question. I bought coach with
52,000+ miles and all original rubber looked good.
Bus had a Howard power center system installed
and now I know why as it wanders all over the road
because the caster is way off. The shop said the spindle
is as far forward as they can go and still 1/2" off.  No
under frame damage can be found...general consciences
is this problem came on coach and no one ever took to
Prevost for alignment check, as this would have been on
their records. Someone put the Howard system on as bandage.
Prevost said part is made by Dana..and they have no stock
and want an order of 200 to make more. This part has never
been ordered in TN location in their history. Not a good thing !! ???

Dana and GKN are one in the same my 97 with IFS was a GKN made in England,Prevost worked on it a lot like for 2 years ? aren't most 2003 models the 18,000 lbs front end they look to be a better design on the 2003 models
