Sorry too tired and frustrated to look it up in the archives. Broke down on the freeway at 4 PM today. AAA keeps sending the wrong size trucks.....My mechanic knows a heavy duty tow guy..... Hopefully he will be there soon. Right now its 823 PM and my guys truck just showed up. 125 per hour, 4 hour minimum. At least it gets the wife off the freeway and on her way to the shop.
671 engine in my 4104. Thermostat on top of engine? Leaking water. Overheated only.
Thanks,
Siberyd

Another vote for CoachNet.
We have Allstate RV Road help. Selected that one as it offered unlimited towing distance to a service shop capable of fixing an issue, which on a 1955 bus would be home :-). I have not had to use them for the bus, touch wood, but has anyone else used them and had good/bad experience?
Thanks,
Dave
Good Sam ! I have had to use them twice and was very happy both times. One time I broke down in a construction area and the police called for the wrecker and they towed me to a shop and dropped the bus, this was on a Sunday. Monday morning I found out they did not work on engines. We found a place that would work on it about 30 miles from there and called the wrecker co back and had them take it there. I paid both times. I called Good Sam and talked to them, They said to send them the bills and I did along with a letter stating the facts of the situation and I received a check for both tows within about a month. Total bill was just a little shy of $1000.00. On the other tow I don`t even know how much it cost as I never saw a bill.
I have C/N I like it because you can request your shop and I don't like the hooks so I always request a low boy the 2 times I used it never was a problem for C/N to send me what I wanted
Make that 3 times I pulled a idiot stunt and buried the bus on the beach they are not supposed to send a wrecker unless you are with in 100 ft of the payment I was 300 ft so the driver just brought more cable he charged me 50 bucks for the extra length of cable
We've had awesome experiences with Coach Net. For our 120 mile tow to Billings last year, we never even saw a bill.
They have knowledgeable people on the phone, and they actually know a thing or two about buses.
Cheers,
- Chris
18 years with Good Sam and 6 with Coach Net, never used either, so no idea.

So here's another great example why the $100 or so per year is well worth the investment for Coachnet or Sams or whomever...

Good Sam will tow to the nearest authorized repair center. For us busnuts with long-extinct makes of buses (Crowns, Eagles, GMs, etc.) with obviously no current dealers in Good Sam's database, has anyone else here had luck with Dave's approach? If that doesn't fly, ABC Bus is close, even though they can't understand why anyone would not want a Van Hool . . .

PS - Siberyd, will you still be able to make it to Buses Gone Wild next month with one of your buses? Even Moki says he's coming!
John,
Still planning on bringing at least one bus to BGW at Paul's. Not sure which one yet.
The 04 gets out of the shop on Monday.

I have the Allstate and have used them twice for tires and once for a tow truck. I pulled into a driveway and the rear of the bus bottomed out and the tires just next to the culvert and no longer touched the ground. They sent for Apple towing and he picked me up and moved me just a little. I just went into wrong driveway. It would have been $500 but never seen a bill. I think it is around $125 or so and auto renews so I don't keep up with it. It also covers all the vehicles you own. So if you pull a boat or ride a bike they are all covered. They won't buy your tire but they will pay for the service to change it. It does tow to the nearest repair center but I don't know if the extra vehicle coverage comes with the others or not.
I have Good Sam Emergency Road Service. I broke down in Baker, Ca a few years ago. I stopped there because I knew there was a heavy duty tow service there. The big endorsement of Good Sam came from the tow company that says they never have a problem being paid by Good Sam. I had the choice of either being towed for free back to Barstow, Ca or paying the extra $150.00 to be towed to Las Vegas, Nv. In this case, I didn't mind paying the extra $150.00. Good Luck, TomC
