I am at the point where I think putting in a whole new "clip" is the best way to move forward. I do not need the weight capacity that requires an tag axle. With enough air pressure in the tires,The right rear axle, and some slick aerodynamics, how many MPG do you think I can squeeze out of an 73 eagle. I am putting in a fresh 50 series, overdrive trans an a yet to be determined rear axle. Place your bets. How hard can I pull the series 50 at it's most efficient 1200 rpm, Will it really be pulling that hard at 70 mph to push that engine, aerodynamic package. I have no answers, only questions. I looked at the bubble of most efficient operation, and 1200 rpm is it. The latest writeup showed 14-1600. I guess if I am wrong I could use first overdrive. I guess I need to talk to Sonny Gray , about the "clip" ,
What rear ratio would you use?

"Independent Government Tests Prove Fuel Efficiency Advantage of Eagle Motorcoaches"
synopsis : Eagle Model 10 with 6V92TA and HT-740 transmission sand bag loaded to 50% of passenger and baggage capacity (26,504 curb weight, 36,484 test weight) on a 4 mile test track after running several warm up laps registered 7.0 mpg using a Columbia Systems meter with a plus or minus accuracy of 0.5%.
Will your new setup do enough better to pay for itself ?
