Pulled the bus in the shop this mornin to pull the genset to replace the belt.
One of my employees noticed fuel leaking from under the tank. I looked in the stones where it was parked
and I saw the big wet spot. I figured I lost a 1/2 a tank of fuel...bummer!
Now the genset is done it's time to investigate the fuel tank...Wish me luck!
Nick-
good luck
I have already been there done that. I pulled my tank on my MCI 7 and found the plate for the 2nd tank if it had been installed was leaking at the gasket. Darn gasket was only 33 years old don't understand why it started leaking, guess they just don't make them good, HAHA I had the old plate taken off and then a new one welded on, no more gasket, Total cost was $85.00 to test and weld the plate on, plus two trips to Phoenix, 200 miles round trip each. I was a happy camper because of how good the tank was and what the total cost was. It was a bear to pull out.
Good Luck

Nick,
Bummer!
On the positive side, two weeks to Arcadia, and at least your at home.
Good luck on your repairs.
Cliff
Ah Nick,
No sweat for a guy like you with your talents ! I'll bet you'll have it fixed before you read this! BK ;D
No BK,
Just got the genset all fired up and filled with liquids along with a run hot test...
Now it's 3:30 pm and Luke says he might have a fix for me. So I think I'll take him up on that
and drive the bus up to him tonight so I don't have an empty tank tomorrow... :-[
besides, I have 1 week before we hit the road and a million things to do yet.
Nick-
8:00pm...I'm at Lukes.. OOPS, Camp Lukes
I'll let you what we find tomorrow
Nick-
Nick ,
I hope it all works out well for you.
Don't let the sound of all those old GM's rusting keep you awake lol.
Update,
We found a rotted weld at the rear bottom joint. Luke and Mike found out that my tank is the same as a MC9's tank.
Thats great because, a new tank is big big bucks.. Thanks US Coach! They pulled a tank from a 9 in the yard and installed
it. [fit like a glove]. I'll be camping again here tonight because, I want to have a couple things checked tomorrow.

Hay BK,
yea, the tank is done... And today, I had them do some other stuff....Ya Know, the [May as well] stuff.
Installed a block heater, Replaced the Air dryer cartrage, adjusted the brakes, and an oil change...
All at a fair price too.... Thanks Luke, Bill, Mike, Kenny, and Addis,

Nick, What kind of Gen do you have? I have a 10KW Onan Quiet diesel and it's a major to replace the belt. Had to change mine last week. Only has 2,000hrs. My old used gen in my last bus had same belt (used) when I sold after 3 1/2 years. There is a price for quiet. Merry Christmas, Charlie B.
Hi Charlie,
I have the 12.5 QD with 2600 hrs, I have replaced the belt 2 times allready but with the wrong belt....
This time I had NC BOB's friend look my serial # up too find the proper belt #... Sure enough it takes a metric belt!
Almost $50 bucks too..[I baught 2] But, boy it fits nice now, and was able to get it tight enough.
I don't want to replace it anymore >:( >:( 8 hr job with help of a fork lift [700lbs]
Hope to catch up with you soon Charlie, Have a great holliday yourself..

How Frustrating! ???
Any chance maybe a return line is leaking from your engine or genset?
I am sending you my Nextel and cell #'s by PM if you run in to a problem down my way....
Cliff
Nick,
It sounds like it's time to get out the bubblegum and balin' wire.

Dallas
Thanks Guy's,
I'm on the Cape May Ferry and the diesel smell is inside AGAIN......
I'm going to Drive a few hours then start again in the mornin.
There has got to be somthing causing theese tanks to leak. I just can't see 3 tanks leaking!! The other 2 clearly had leaks on the bottom.
I'll keep you guy's posted
Nick-
Nick,
I hope this is no indication that it keeps going around, >:( I don't need another leak and you don't either. ;)
I pray you find the problem and it is easy to fix.
Good Luck on your trip.
Happy Trails,
Paul

Nick: Is it possible that the new wet spot of fuel is from the original leak and just migrated out of some spot you missed in your cleanup?
Today....
Luke at US Coach had my orrigional tank repaired and Bill installed it today. So far so good! I'll wait a couple weeks then look for any more wet
spots.
Thanks Luke, for the tank repair and the fuel filters!

HAHAHAHAH!!!
Nick, I just can't resist this:
Why wait a couple of weeks?
Why not do it like you use too? Roll her in flour and look for a wet spot?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
