The Muffler and front and rear clamps available threw MCI Parts $ 336.00 Can
Muffler 8G-20-2
Front Clamp 8R-20-18
Rear Clamp 8R-20-26
The problem of the engine sounding like it was crapping out at 1500 RPM was a collapsed Muffler
thank you
Cheers
Dave
Do you mind telling me the configuration and dimensions of that muffler? I need a new one, and I was just assuming that MCI was out of the question. Also I want to go to a lower restriction turbo muffler rather than the one intended for a stock 8V71 NA, and one for an 8V92 might be perfect. My muffer is oval, sits under the driver's side floor of the engine compartment, is about 20 inches wide by 10" tall, about 26" long and has a 5" inlet and outlet on one end. Is yours anything like that?
Brian
Brian, MCI told me that one for my 5A was $1000. I went to the Donaldson website and found one for about $240. I did go to a shorter muffler though as i wanted to move the tailpipe from under the back corner of the bumper to just behind the rear wheels so that i could see if i was blowing out any black smoke or not.
If using a turbo, use either a straight pipe OR a resonator.

The specs on the correct muffler for 8v92T are as follows Back limit 2.5 Back pressure 2.7 5 inch inlet & 5 inch outlet i have a couple mc9 coaches here first intended to convert into RV but changed my mind and went with a nice west coast 102c that had zero corrosion .... i would have used one of those mufflers but there not the same even thu they look alike
Back pressure depends on injectors, turbo and hp setting your numbers sound right for 5 inch pipe with a 90 bend and low hp I like 1 or below for back pressure for 430 hp and above on a 8v92 JMO
Would it hurt to run them straight exhaust? Mine is a 8V92TA. How loud would it be in the cabin down the road?
