1978 MC8, serial no. 513536. Does anyone have access to the factory sales records that identify the original owner of this bus? Thanks. Kirt
Kirt -
Check the MCI busnuts group on Yahoo. There used to be a fellow over there named Jim who had complete MCI delivery records. I haven't been there for awhile, so am not familiar with the current situation.
FWIW & HTH. . .
;)
Thank you, I will.
If you google mci delivery list you will find the website. I took a quick look, are you sure that is a 5 and not an S at the start of the number? All of the ones there start with an S. Also it looks like yours is not there, last one listed is S13535. Some of the records were destroyed in a fire from what i have heard....my 5A is not listed either even though the one before it and the one after it are. Mine was supposedly owned by Badger Bus Lines and i stopped by there last summer to see if they had anything on it. They bought 4 buses at the time and had info on 3 of them but nothing on the other one which they did feel pretty sure was mine. Guess i will never really know for sure, just one of the mysteries of life.
Thank you, Ed. That is exactly what I was looking for. I made it more difficult than I needed to. The number does start with an S, not a 5. Penmanship issue. Apparently, this bus missed the list by 1 unit.
I have found factory tags in the bus that indicate it originally had the 871-TA. It now has the 8v93 turbo. The fans are updated as they extend down into the engine bay. The radiators are upgraded to the 8" thick size. It still has the 4 spd manual. Everything appears professionally done, sometime in the past. Could bus owners hire MCI to upgrade their buses, or were those always free-lance projects? Or should I start another thread to ask that? Kirt
I have an email address of an employee at MCI. She found the information for the original owner of my bus. It was several years ago and I'm not sure if the address is still good or if she works there but I would be happy to PM the info to you if you would like.

Thanks, Melbo. Walk me through the process on how we would do that without breaking forum rules. (Newbie)
I sent you a PM and included the email address.

If you do that could you also ask them if they have anything on a 68 5A serial # 7155?
