Title: Adjusting 6v92 injectors
Post by: opus on March 14, 2014, 10:13:01 AM
Again, I am the middle man.  The guy has R5234915 injectors.  He is wanting to know if he needs a special adjustment tool for these injectors.  If so, what is the correct tool?  I take it he means to set the height of the injector?

If he doesn't know that then he probably should see someone that's done it before, smells like trouble.>>>Dan

Most of the DDEC 92 engines use the .1500 timing pin but one never knows he needs to set all injectors

He has someone coming in to do it but the guy asked what tools he needed to bring with him....something like that anyways. :)

There's nothing like having correct information, Detroit is great about providing that info in manuals for that purpose.>>>Dan

Of course, that however is not the case here.  Even though he does not have the manuals, the engine still needs repair.  Which is why he asked me to check with "people I know".

That IS the case here, when the "people you know" are all over the map its time for the bible, it can get too expensive to guess or pick and choose.>>>Dan

He is not a wrench type guy but he IS learning that he needs to be.  He's tackling a lot on his own now with some coaching.  Agreed, he should find a manual for his engine.

For his engine he will need more than 1 manual ::)

It's great to see that he is learning, hands on training is some of the best if approached correctly, I've never believed the old wives tale that only the anointed few can work on these things.>>>Dan

They are like aircraft engines Dan nothing special just time ,patience and common sense but he has a DDEC engine it takes more than common sense on those most of the time  ;D
