Since we are talking about diesel vs propane there is a new 3 cylinder Kubota Diesel for sale on Government Liquidation in PA good start on building a generator
Indeed, IF it is setup for generator governor use AND has the correct SAE# on flywheel & stator mounting, it could be great.
I was lucky finding a new Perkins 3 cylinder diesel (built in Japan) already setup for a 12kw generator, had the correct bell housing & flywheel plus the heavy flywheel & starter, sure made for a smooth running genset, built the suspension using standard rubber mounts from Granger, built own controls, working today with many thousand hours, never an issue.

I have seen these used in "light carts", and the military(my unit included) has lots of these things with low hours. The spare parts sometimes "lose their identity" through turn-ins and transfers. I am surprised that their is not a mfg nameplate shown in the pictures. The depot is about 20mi. from my house, and if I didn't already have a 3 cyl Kubota, I would be bidding on this one.
