Today is the last day for voting you cannot express your opinion by not voting so vote please Like most I don't care for the 1 name for positions on the ballot but it's been like that for a long time in the club

You have been in our group a long time and even had a few year as nominating person. It is not easy to get folks to set up and run.
the good thing is we are both off the hook now.

We have to many officers LeRoy it would be a lot easier replacing 6 officers than trying to find 15 we have more voting officers than the FMCA and they have 79,000 members we only need 6 like other clubs IMO right now 10% of the members are some type officer

good luck

might be true but
1. this is not the location to address the issue and
2. in the past 2 or 3 years we just had a vote to keep it like we have it.

Yea Clifford, why discuss another club's issues on this forum? Most of us here are non EI members and could care less what happens there.

Happy New Year anyway.

JC, there are probably more Eagle owners in the club that read this board than read the EI board fwiw around 1/3 of the members I would guess read only this board or F/B

Elections are over with in the EI John I don't know the outcome yet either  ::) later today I'll try and explain how the system works for some that want or care to know without starting a pissing contest and it is not just a Eagles deal other chapters use the same system

It is just a formality nothing else

Here is how it works John, the President appoints a nominating committee of 3 members along with the president, past president and 1 more officer make up the committee that is way it supposed to be but it never works that way the head of the appointed committee seems to always get it dumped in his lap BTDT

The nominees are turned over to the President then they are put on the ballot if your name is on the ballot you will get elected there is only 1 name and a write in space so our members just don't vote, I seen write in  like Mickey Mouse, Donald, Goofy and others sad indeed

I don't know about the other clubs but this year we had the largest voting turn out we ever had about a 30% (54 votes) turn out they just don't vote because most have said it is a waste of time.  I try to discourage it by telling them they have the right to nominate anybody they choose from the floor and place a name on the ballot that is supposed to be asked at the meeting by the presiding officer of the meeting but never is , the selection by the nominating committee is not written in stone it's that way in any FMCA chapter

There you have it I could go on but that is the basic idea

I am a member of a club that had a ridiculous set of bylaws.  A lot of stuff was put in the bylaws for reasons nobody really knew, or it was copied from another organization's bylaws.  There used to be a requirement that the board of directors elect officers the same night as the elections for the board.  It was hard to get the board together on election night to elect officers.  We were also electing board members in February or March which made no sense since dues are for the calendar year.

A few of us on the board got together and wrote a common sense set of bylaws based a lot on another club's bylaws.  Board elections are now in December for the next year and the board elects officers at the first board meeting in January.  The board only meets in the winter months generally as we have club activities in the summer and fall.

Belfert,we have good by/laws and standing rules 3 guys from the club spent a lot of time 3 years ago redoing those and did a good job IMO, now the way they are interpreted varies from member to member and there is nothing anyone can do about that
