Title: Honda CRV as tow
Post by: Mike in GA on December 14, 2013, 07:14:22 AM
Have had great luck towing our front wheel drive 2004 model. Time to get a newer one. Are the later models, say 2009-2012, just as appropriate for towing four down with front wheel drive?
Thanks in advance. Tried to access FMCA's towing guide, but computer is acting up.

I know the 2011 CRV is towable four down. My mother and father inlaw have one they tow. I bought their 2004 to pull behind my bus.

We tow a 2012 CRV behind our motorhome.  AWD, just follow the mfgr's instructions. BUT, beware. Leaving the ignition on in acc position (required to tow) can drain the battery with auxiliary braking system (Brake Buddy). You need to run a line from the coach battery to the Honda battery to maintain the CRV's battery charge.

When DW goes along, I tow the 2004 Element or the 2011 CRV, when alone I tow my 04 F150, all are great, like mentioned do EXACTLY what the manual sez about the Honda towing and no problem, have towed the Hondas many miles, perfer the Element to the CRV for towing (weight)but the DW perfers the CRV to be in.
