If that fails with Jim I have a set of 92 series manuals also, no such thing as just a 6v92 the manuals contain all the 92 series the 6v92,8v92,12v92 and 16v92

Scott,

I have a Detroit Diesel 92 series folder full of documents pertaining to the 92 series engine including the engine and servicing the engine.  Its about 500megs though.  I could mail it to you on a USB drive.  Not sure I have enough bandwidth to upload 500megs in any given time.

I do think I found it from a shared folder somewhere here in bus cyberspace.  Im sure someone else knows where I found it but if you cannot find it or for some reason Jim cannot get it to you, let me know via PM and I'll snail mail a USB/PDF copy to you.

Ok well Im needing what would help me to know how to work on my engine? For example I need to remove the water pump, and there is a large C clamp looking piece that seems to be holding it on and Im wondering is there a spring or something behind that, that will shoot out?  Please remember as this is probably a very stupid question, this will be my first time working on the engine, and I would rather be safe.

Why do you think you need to take off the water pump?  The snap ring you mention has nothing to do with taking the water pump off, there are three bolts holding it to the engine, plus the hoses.  You only need to take the snap ring off the cover if you are going to rebuild the pump.

You can install the seal from the front by removing the snap ring and cover nothing in there that bites if the shaft and bearings are bad the pump needs to be removed for those to be replaced The seal is 8 bucks and the whole kits are some where around 80 to 125 depending where you buy Mohawk is the cheapest on the kits

good luck

It is quite easy to remove the pump, like stated three bolts and the hoses. When i bought a new pump from DD the new snap ring needed to be installed. Not hard I just used a large pair of curved needle nose pilers.
