Title: Spare Tire
Post by: qayqayt on November 29, 2013, 09:51:29 AM
After owning our coach for 5 years I finally decided to dig out the spare tire and have a closer look at it.  As it turns out, it's an 11R22.5 tire on a split rim.  Not much good to me because many tire shops won't even touch a split rim and I have 12R22.5 tires on the bus.

I'm thinking about buying a used tire but I have a couple of questions:
  1) I'm having a bit of trouble finding a used 12R22.5 tire.  Would an 11R22.5 make do as a spare?
  2) The existing spare on the split rim just fits in the spare tire compartment.  If I manage to find a 12R22.5, can I get it in?

If it is a split rim, it should be an 11:00x20. An 11:00x22 won't fit in mine, but an 12:00X22.5 will.

I got a 11r22.5 last year  from Ed Hackenbruch when he put new tires on the front of his bus. I had it as a spare but when I blew a rear inner 50 miles from Yuma it is now on my coach. I'm looking for a another tire in Yuma 315 80r22.5 or 12r22.5, I don't want to leave the 11r22.5 next to the 315.

It is truly a split rim or a locking ring wheels split wheels are a 2 pc wheel that lock together in the center sometimes lol a lock ring wheel will not hurt you if locked properly they are not used much today because all tires are tubeless and they only accept tube type
