While looking for one of those Autoshift transmissions like Jim has, noticed there's a decent looking Prevost on Eplace that appears to have something less than 200K miles on it, professional conversion (screwed up colors :P) that appears to be intact and in decent shape. 8V92, B500. Looks like it could easily be done up nice. Item: 140060367925
Something must be wrong with this picture? That seems a deal to me? Maybe it's a good thing I don't have any bucks!
Also a nice looking MCI 102D3 on there that's right nice...but they're asking 150K and it's and it's converted....that's gonna take a while. Theres a Renassance (sp?) too for $125....this looks nice. Another five years and those things will be a lot more affordable.
I constantly try to get Terri to build (agree to allow me to build) one of those Geezer abodes with the bus in the bottom, or off to the side of the building. Simplify my life sooo fast!
Oh well. Back to looking for my horn parts. May have to buy a whole Freightliner to get a horn part....and an engine...and trans.
You know, if someone bought that Marathon or XL, they could get ACE to straighten out the baby blue carpet and pink window treatment.
Yeah. That would work. Make a little "donation" for his new place and "friends" could just 'hang you know....and magic will happen to your bus!
Cheers, JR
JR that Prevost looks like a heck of a deal to me!
True the colors are bad but anything can be changed!
And, thanks for the plug! We'll know more Today by 5pm hopefully!
welcome back Ace,Mike
Ace- glad you're back! Good Luck, TomC
I really never went away as I checked in from time to time but for now it's a trial period!
Want to see how certain people react or act, not necessarily in that order, besides my buddy Nick asked me to re-consider.
Ace you a newbie???? welcome back ---- you are a funny guy????
I doubt that coach has a B500. The ad says 5 speed auto so it is probably a 750 series. I haven't seen B500 in anything older than about a 1994 or maybe a 1993.
Brian
Nice coach and a hell of a buy for what it is. The shifter in the pictures is definitley not a B500 shifter, and Brian is correct, they weren't made prior to 94, late 93.
8v92 DDEC's and 740 ATEC's wern't made in 78 but I have them in my 1978 bus ;D

Anything can be done, but the Ebay ad only indicated it has a 5 speed auto. I didn't see that it reads B500 anywhere. I think someone assumed a 5 speed auto is a B500. I doubt this Prevost would have been converted to a B500 later.

I bought my own 4104 from an RV dealer some years ago. I have seen a few very good deals when an RV dealer takes a bus conversion in trade. They are afraid of them and don't want them on the lot. You know they made a killing on whatever they took it in trade for.

Welcome Back Ace,
I missed your quips on this board.
Paul,

Sorry about installing the B500 in the Prevost...the '93 MCI with the "D" rear cap (I was under the impression that all "D"s had S60s as standard power? Wrong again??) has the "World" trans....thought the Prevost had an Aquahot too..but? That's in the MCI also. Sometimes I get 'fused! :-\
There's gotta be something wrong with the Prevost. However, the MCI isn't bringing anywhere near what they want for it either....only 18 hours left..
According to the counter only 18 people have looked at the Prevost. Most of those are from this board. ???
There is a possibilty that the Prevost wasn't a "new" shell...still looks like a deal for someone.
Reckon I'll stick with my MC9...thing's like an old boat that's been in the family for a long tme. Going into the 7th year...gads. At least I know how an MC9 DDEC operates. Don't know much else! ;)
I'm gonna place the "D" and the Prevost in my "watch" list and see what happens to them. Wait and watch the feedback.....didn't the Prevost seller say they just sold another for $120K? No feedback listed?
JR
JR, Any chance I can get you to measure your engine doors for height and width opening? Thanks Tom Y

Early D series from MCI had the 8V92. Some of the early ones with the Series 60 still had a 740 series tranny.

Sure. What do you want....just service doors? or radiator door also?
I saw your earlier post on the subject, but forget what you wish to do. ...something related an MC5?
When you need this? I'll do it tomorrow for you. It's cold outside, I'm sorta underdressed to go trekkin to the bus house...but I will tomorrow.
Are you going to try to use the doors off a 9? May work...dfinitely could be cut down. And they would be cheap to find.
Let me know and if you are still around, I may be talked onto doing it right now. Take 10 minutes.
JR

Here goes: LH (air filter) and RH (Ac) side service doors are 34 1/2" high X 24 3/4" wide.
The rear engine access doors are: 26 1/2" wide X 35 1/2 high....and this is times two doors.
The radiator door is: 53" wide X 22" high. The width of the radiator door is the same as the combined width of the service doors.
Let me know if you need more.
JR
JR, Thanks, Thanks,Thanks. I have a 5c and need taller rear doors. So I was hoping the 9s are tall enough, I need to go out to measure now. Thanks Again Tom Y
Well...the Prevost is gone. They pulled the listing last nite at 10. Still had the $65K offer. Whatta deal! Or so it seems. That bus would have been a deal without an engine.
BTW, Tom Y...you're welcome. Now we're gonna need some pix of your project. What Cummins engine are you intalling?
Cheerio, JR
Yeah Tom Y,
We'd love to heer/see/read what your upto ???
Enquiring minds and JR wanna Know ;D
JR, I will post some pics on the picture page when I figure out how. I am putting a Cummins L10 in with a Allison. I am not an engineer but play one in my garage. So I am reluctant to say what I have done to this bus. Thanks Tom
