Title: 1967 MC-5A Push-Pull Brake valve
Post by: FolkBus on September 24, 2013, 01:49:19 PM
Hi all

My Push-Pull parking brake valve has started to become very hard to push to release, When you are able to push in (release brakes) there is considerable air leakage and air loss.  When I turn the handle (wether released or applied) the air leakage changes.  Seems to me the valve has finally gotten tired.

MCI part#  4B-28-1  If I'm reading the parts manual correctly.  Is this a somewhat standard valve??  Way back in the distant past when I drove bus and truck this type of valve seemed quite common.

Will this be a hard find or just a trip to the local truck parts store???   ???

Mike -

Just replaced mine a few months ago.  Pulled it, got the part number and NAPA had it in stock.  Very common part.  Keep in mind that you may have other issues other than the push / pull brake valve.  Mark your lines before you pull them off.

Mike,

Try not to spill soda down there next time. Soda's will make just about anything really sticky, and hard to use ;D. lol, just kidding.

Easy replacement. Take pics before you remove it, and label every line. My guess is Napa will have it in stock, or any of the other places can order it.

Cheers,

John
