Post by: scanzel on August 30, 2013, 03:36:06 AM
If using AGM batteries is it still a good idea to vent the battery box some how ?

Get your answer from www.lifelinebatteries.com/manual (http://www.lifelinebatteries.com/manual) they say vent because of hydrogen gasses build up while charging this will be a can of worms lol

I thought that most AGM batteries if they vent are junk after that?  Lifeline batteries seem to have a vent that closes if it does vent so the battery is not destroyed.

Whole point of AGM batteries are that they don't vent (unless overcharged). You should still have some sort of venting because they can heat up while charging. Good Luck, TomC

I found as many battery manufacturer/distributor FAQ's that said no need to vent as said need to vent.  My take is they don't need venting in normal use, but need venting in abnormal use (like you just fried them by overcharging them).  They sure don't need venting like a wet cell does.
