I have a Eagle 10 with a 6v92 and would like to mount an oil pressure gauge on the engine. I don't mind running a little plumbing to get it where I can see it. I can access the starter side of the engine easily since I removed the OTR AC. Is there a good place to get to the oil on that side?
thanks...Dan
On the drivers side at the rear there is a junction block it has a 1/8 inch plug in the top to install a oil gauge, the same block your electric gauge and shut down are located
good luck
That's where the current gauge is but I am getting different readings between the mechanical and the dash unit. I have read a couple of posts where comments were made about the alternator causing pressures to fluctuate. Would that be the case on my setup?
Just the difference between the mechanical gauge on the rear and the electric on the dash very seldom will they read the same how much difference between the 2
At idle and fast idle they read close to the same. Down the road the dash unit will sometimes read erratically...90% of the time in the 45-50lb range but will sometimes go quickly down to 30 and back to 45. I think this is a loose wire on the sending unit that I haven't tightened successfully yet.
I've driven it about 2000 miles so far. It runs fine, doesn't smoke and uses around 1 qt of Delo 100 40w in 500 miles and that includes the leaking alternator. I just want to be sure what the oil pressure is doing. The current mechanical gauge is pretty old and I was going to replace it and thought about a different location. Sounds like it is where it needs to be.
The sending unit could be going bad and loses it ground if your Eagle still has the VDO gauges any 80 lb sender will work as long as it reads 10 to 180 ohms for the VDO gauge
I buy mine from EGauge for about 40 bucks if you have a dash warning light on the Eagle the single gauge (1 wire) senders are a little cheaper
I think mine only has 1 wire. i will check and look them up. Thanks Clifford
