Title: Really Cheap Engine Upgrade.
Post by: Lin on August 09, 2013, 07:07:23 PM
We came down from 7000 ft elevation to the CA coast.  In comparison, the bus is driving like a sports car.  Must be about 20% more power.  I picked up another 10% yesterday by another upgrade; my wife drove the Jeep the last 40 miles from the last campground rather than hook it up for towing.

Sounds about right, Lin.  You lose about 1/3 horsepower at 10,000 feet.  So at 7,000 feet about 23% +-.
You need that turbo, Lin.  My cat engine is rated full horsepower to 10,000 feet.

Lin is your wife aware that she counts for 10% of your horse power.

The correct formula is 1 to 2 PERCENT of your horsepower PER THOUSAND FEET ALTITUDE (depending on temperature above sea level.>>>Dan  (At the altitude that I live, we loose 18 percent before turning the key)
