Title: Vent above roof, how high?
Post by: Tikvah on August 03, 2013, 09:16:21 AM
I'm installing a 1-1/2" black tank vent pipe through my roof today.  How high above the roof should it be?

I suggested to my wife that I could just leave it a few feet up and let the bridges trim it to the proper height....she never trusts me.

Just high enough to put sealant around it, then install a venturi vent over it. Good Luck, TomC

It's actually more important to choose the proper location than the height. If you install it in the wrong place, the gases can be sucked back into the bus through
vents, roof hatches, rear windows, etc.  BTDT!

If you have other stuff on your roof that might be a consideration.

I ran mine up past the top of everything there -- secured it in place and trimmed it (not using bridges or under passes   ;D ) to be at the same height as the AC's Sat dome etc.

I used a laser level to line up where to cut it.

I have never had any back draft or odor problems.
