I posted before and have given some wrong info, the bus my brother has is the 1966 GMC Buffalo PD4107, and would greatly appreciate it if someone would put him in touch with a mechanic to discuss difficulties with his bus. His name is Jim, and he can be reached at 347 545 0812. Even it is possible to change the bus from a stick to an automatic transmission!

I talked to Jim on the phone this evening. Bus belonged to his son, who sadly passed away from a heart attack recently.
Coach is located in an RV storage about 10 - 15 mi south of Charlotte, NC off I-77 at Exit 90. Says it's on the grounds of the old Jim & Tammy Bakker Heritage USA property.
Jim needs someone familiar with GMC buses to meet him there, probably in September (he's in FL right now), to adjust the clutch properly after a "mechanic" did and made it worse. Says reverse solenoid works, but won't pull it into gear after the "adjustment." He can get it into reverse using the old broom handle trick.
Coach is fully converted, Jim says his son would often spend weekends using the bus.
After he gets the clutch issue resolved, the bus will be for sale at a very reasonable price, as none of the other family members are interested.
Jim is also "electronically-challenged", so will need help from fellow busnuts taking/posting pics to help sell the rig. He doesn't own a computer, so using this medium is foreign to him, thus the help request. (There are no pics available at this time.)
So, who's in the Charlotte, NC area? Uncle Ned?? Gene Russell?? Anybody else in that neck of the woods that could help?

Many times the reverse issue is from removing the slop on the reverse solenoid linkage. You need to remove the end cap and look at the contact points. They should open when solenoid reaches it's full travel to disconnect solenoid pull windings. You also want to inspect points for excessive deteoriation/burning. You adjust the linkage on the solenoid arm to achieve this. When right, the linkage looks sloppy loose. You remove all the slop and you'll have solenoid issues. It explains adjustment in manual.

I called Jim a little while ago to put him in touch with a mechanic in Durham area, not close but at least someone who knows buses. In talking to Jim, its not a clutch issue, she goes in gears fine and is drivable, just wont go into reverse. he took off the reverse solonoid and had it tested at an altenator shop who said it was good.
I think if a local busnut could get there they could figure it out pretty easy. Hard part is Jim is in Fla, bus is in Charlotte area, and ex wife of Jim is in charge of bus. Someone is coming to look at it this weekend and they just want to get the bus sold. I recommended getting pictures and specs on the bus classifieds here and at Busnut.com They are wanting to sell it for 10K. That solenoid plunger has to move 3/8 inch or slightly more before it takes up slack to start moving reverse lever. No slack and it won't work. Less than 3/8 inch slack will cause problems when transmission has warmed up. Doing the point adjustment is best way to have it correct and reliable, although just making the slack adjustment will probably help. In case if the adjustments are right, it could be low voltage to the solenoid. check with a voltmeter or a proper voltage supply hotwire
