Title: What is it?
Post by: TexasBorderDude on July 28, 2013, 12:41:38 PM
I had a fellow fix a mounting strap on my muffler and then down the road I had occasion to look at it and saw this.

What the heck is that on the rear motor mount cross member on my 05 Eagle?  Looks like some kind of breather???

Is it magnetic? If so, I'm thinking it was used to hold parts together for welding. Left behind by mistake.

Mr. Gasket Oil fill breather cap for puny little Chevrolet 265-283-327 engines, but even better yet 301-331-354-392 Chrysler HEMI's!

Just a WAG but it looks like Clifford's handiwork.   He likes to box those tubes in and use them for a slobber tube reservoir.

Can't be a Iggle part ... there isn't any rust on it.

It's boxed in for the slobber tube reservoir, so at least that part of an Eagle won't rust out.

chessie, should have put those 2 strokes in front of bus and with all the leaking oil you would never rust, of course you would be slipping and sliding down the road.

Bob guessed it I don't like plastic pipe and gal oil jug people use for a catch can if people are going to use something anyway I just do it that way simple as abc the mount is already tubed

You buy 3 - 3/8 in black iron pipe coupling,2-3/8 barbed hose fitting weld a fitting on each side of the cross member for the air box drains 1 at the bottom of the cross member for draining you can use a regular pipe plug for the drain or like Doyles I used a Fumoto drain he had

Then use a hole saw and cut a 1 inch oil on the top stick the breather and rubber grommet in top your done maybe 30 minutes and 20 bucks tops he thinks it is neat now that he knows what it is lol

Can't wait for the puzzled looks when they see that muffler bearing, California EPA muffler breather, etc.
