Title: Window project...
Post by: travelingfools on July 16, 2013, 05:29:46 PM
Started the window project today. Using the original frames with an aluminum frame inside to size for the new sliders... Did a mockup today of the frame made out of plywood..

Put it together with the plywood frame. Going to my buddies tomorrow to see if his plasma cutter will cut the aluminum I want to use for the frame..

Latest technology plasma cutters will cut aluminum but you need gas I forgot the mixture using air will just make a mess, water or a laser is the best for aluminum IMO

I use water jet for all aluminum.  You can download a free CAD program from www.emachineshop.com (http://www.emachineshop.com).  The program is real easy to use.  Draw it up and save it on a thumb drive in the format the shop uses.  I've been paying about $2.50 a minute.  Speed will depend on thickness.  Doing your own drawing saves a lot.
