Moving Batteries
I am installing the starting batteries in the right rear side of the engine compartment were the old holding tank was.
With new 4/0 positive cable going to the starter solenoid from batteries and 4/0 negative cable to the rear of starter housing from batteries.
Rewire battery switch in front so we can turn off all power to the bus.
I Know that starter solenoid will be Hot.
With the front switch off all other drains on the starting batteries are removed. The bus could not be started with switch off.
In the old battery location we will be installing AGM batteries for a new inverter that will be installed soon.

Do you have DDEC? If so, that will change things. I went through that last year when I rejigged my starting batteries.

I'm interested in doing this too. Any concern about engine heat? I know the battery is in the engine compartments in my cars, but that 8v71 is a tad larger.
Will the battery starter cables be longer, the same or perhaps shorter? Starter motor cranking voltage comes to mind. You mentioned 4/0 cables. If the cables are longer, will 4/0 be big enough? If not, then a possible solution, (looks funny) is to just run double 4/0 cables. A good crimped joint will not hurt that much. Just a thought. Sounds like your coach maybe had this problem to begin with....too much voltage drop? HB of CJ (old coot)
