Title: Need a rear bumper in good shape for GM 4104
Post by: Gordie Allen on June 15, 2013, 01:34:37 PM
Hey All,
I'm getting to exterior work on The Bus and, looking at the rear bumper, there would be a lot of work to getting it to look decent.  It has significant dents, a major crack, and is not at all straight.  I'm not really sure that, even with hours of work on it, it would look right.  Any leads would be appreciated

Salt Lake Chroming and Bumper Exchange can make the GM bumpers look show room new he did one helluva job for me on some stainless steel bumpers on a RV

I have no idea where they buy from some GM guys have reproduction bumpers the Eagle people get theirs from IBP in Fl that is going to be quite a task finding  a 50 year old bumper off a 4104 in good shape :-X

luvrbus,
I agree.  I'm going to save it for last and hope something turns up.

Can anyone confirm that a Buffalo rear bumper would fit/match my 4104?  Got a possible lead on one.

I'm not sure about rear as I sold my 4104 a couple of years ago. However I do know the fronts don't easily interchange. Mounting brackets are different with different hole placement in bumper. Also 4104 front is twice as thick.

Look at the rear of 4104 and 4905; 4104 has row of bolts across the top half of the bumper and, probably on the bottom underside. the 4905 has  4 bolts in rectangular pattern in three locations: center and approx 10 inches in from each end. These bolts connect to rectangular cushioned rubber mounts, which then connect to rear cross framing. With some fabrication, it could be made to work on a 4104. If you're patient, I'm sure you could get one off one being parted out in the future. Watch e-bay and bno classifieds.
