Take a look at this video and I'd like to hear your comments.
RJ or BK would you do this, or would you fire the driver?

What's the story behind this??? This is crazy.... ???
Amazing driving, lvmci...
That looks like "the eye of the needle" on the Needles Hwy in south dakota
Don & Sheila
That's the place. Been through there with my tow car, but not our rig. No way! If I remember right it is 8'-4" wide ? Must be wider to get a 96" coach through. Looked like his mirrors were out and not folded.
GaryD
Yea and it cost the idiot to drive through it I done it once in bus never again will I drive that 14 miles, a 96 in wide bus will go through there with the mirrors out looks wider than 8ft 4 from a distance up close or in it more like 6ft it will make one pucker but that outfit does it every day during the summer and like a fool I listen to one of the drivers no problem he said when I asked
Proves a few things don't it, and he still has not gotten to the circular turn back under, yup why the signs are out on the Needles Highway with the width & height cautions.

It's really not any worse than the Garden of Gods in Co Springs my stupid gps sent me through there it wasn't a fun deal either then the one in Utah going over and through the mountain on highway 9 to Cedar City or St George forgot which, it wasn't that enjoyable of a ride not much you can do about it when the decision has been made expect go forward listening to the co-pilot telling you I told you read the signs
Clifford we live 2 blocks from Garden of the Gods for 10 years. Neat place eh. 7 Sisters would be more fun in a bus up by the Broadmore Hotel.
Dave5Cs
Try Sliver City Dave out from Boise Id I done that gig one time never again in a bus the 7 sisters didn't rattle me all that much the wife was asleep ;D
What's the big deal? It either fits or it doesn't. If it doesn't, you back out the way you got in. LOL.

Are you serious, Clifford?!? Tell me you came from the east, at least. I thought we went on some iffy roads, in the past, but we have NEVER done anything like Silver City from the east. Now, if you told me you came from the west, I would say that is just about impossible. Front side, that would be tough, backside, impossible.
Now, I am really impressed.

I guess if those drivers do it all the time they can do it provided they do it the same way everytime. With only inches to spare, I'll bet any first timer will be sweating like a horse.

Here is a link to Google Street View. I admire anyone who has driven a bus through that!
Yes I have seen it before and yes they do it all the time.
No I would not do it in one of our buses as we only have one 96" wide bus anymore and it's taller than an MCI!
My friend Travis owns a company in Rapid City, SD that does that tour all the time.
But he will tell you very quickly "my Van Hools don't do that onem that's why we still have some old MC9's!"
;D BK ;D
No big deal he is already out of the tunnel BK isn't that one of Travis buses the foreigners love that trip never knew what they were saying but lot's of smiles on their faces with no roof airs on mine height wasn't a problem but I won't do again
Yes after looking at it again it is one of Travis's buses. I'm just used to his Van Hools that say Dakota Bus or Dakota Trailways on them.
That is his 96A3 that was in LaPlace with dad an I for 2 wks after Katrina.
But he must have decided to start using it for that trip.
He used to tell us that and forest fire transportation was the only reason they kept the 9's around. He said he loved the 9's for fire work because they had vinyl seats and they could go in and spray everything down with a stuff called "Smoke Away" and then turn a water hose lose on them and they'd be cleaned up an ready to go again! (try that with cloth seats! LOL!
;D BK ;D
Well, I for one think it would be fun to try. In your bus though.
I would like to see time trials.
