Going to DC with family in our Eagle in Late July. Any suggestions where to stay?

I have not stayed in any of these but they are close. Cherry Hill gets good write ups but is around 70 bucks a night. Bull Run is on the Virginia side with a maximum length of 45 feet for bus and toad. Fees run from 26 to 42 dollars a night.
There is also a KOA in Fredericksburg but that is a good 40 miles from DC and morning traffic is a bear going in and afternoon will make you pull you hair out going out. You also have Aquia Pines, but again traffic can be a bear.
Cherry Hill is right off of the highway ( easy access ) but Bull Run is close to Air and Space Museum, chose your poison and enjoy.....

We stayed at Cherry Hill, it was nice but a while back. The public transportation picks up in the park and carries you to the subway so you can go into town without driving, which was a plus for us.

Another thing - Cherry Hill has a large "meeting center". They rent it out for wedding receptions, company meetings, class reunions, etc. There is a fair amount of traffic in and out of the park at some times of the day and night. I like Cherry Hill Park, but it is steep, and there is the "traffic" situation to think about.

Stayed twice at Cherry Hill. Expensive, but that's suburban DC for you.
Its biggest advantage is the access to the DC Metro subway stop, which will put you close to most DC attractions for a couple of bucks.

If you're going to have a towed vehicle available to you, look into Fairfax Lake Park's campground. They were closed this past summer due to construction but probably open for business again. Their phone number is in the web site. We stayed there in past years (it was nice), and we stayed at Cherry Hill this past summer. Can't say Fairfax is any more inconvenient to the D.C area in terms of driving. Cherry's Hill's advantage is mass transit and a bus that will take you from the campground to the mass transit. From Fairfax, you'd have to drive to the train/subway station, or just drive into DC. Parking in DC is a problem near the mall where all the museums are.
