Title: 102A3 squirrel cage fan isolators
Post by: hargreaves on April 15, 2013, 07:55:35 PM
I have to replace the isolators on my  squirrel cage fan bevel gear box. Is there anything out there that replaces the original rubber bushings?. I was thinking of making some out of nylon.  anyone had any experience with this?  Will I still be able to adjust the belt tension?

Your thoughts will be appreciated.  Cheers, Gerry

Gerry it's been a loonnngggg time since we had an MCI.
But I remember we got those and new seals, bearing and gaskets for the gear box from MCI and replaced it all at once and it wasn't that expensive.
(of course like I said that was a LONG time ago! (like 6-7 years)

B_K  Ya I was wondering if the nylon would be to stiff. I have the series 50 and it comes with a narrower pulley on the crank so i had to use a narrower belt and it tends to vibrate a lot more.

I put a belt tensioner on it but the tension causes the squirrel cage to tilt on an angle and rub the housing. Hense the thought of using nylon bushings.   Cheers Gerry
