Wow, those are some beautiful buses. I kind of hesitate to post a picture of my Plane Jane Eagle. As most of you know, I have spent a lot of time on the mechanicals and getting the systems working. Now I will spend some time working on the exterior.
I think I posted this somewhere else but do not remember where. 1980 Eagle 10. 8V92TA

Hey! That "delete" button is a cool concept. Just posted two wrong pix (twice)! Just unposted them. We'll try this again.
The pix I'm trying to post were taken during our first outing last year. Since have installed Pen windows, and replaced most of the trim. BTW, if you paint your coach, with the trim removed, be sure you get ALL of it painted. Didn't realize the short pieces were needed...glad they didn't get tossed. Bus is dirty...rained every time we used it. Drove thru a hurricane in July. That "leak tested" the bus. Only drove about 2500 miles last year...but was pretty trouble free. Had one bus chassis problem, had to replace the rear main seal last fall. Was not expensive..about $70. Was one other problem...filling the thing up with fuel....waaay too expensive. Gotta go and reckon gotta pay. :(
Kudos to Phil for creating this great place to talk, exchange ideas, and now see people "bussin!" :D Thanks! JR

After we brought it home, it stayed in my shop for 5 months before we could afford to work on it. I had it painted when I bought it. We started in earnest on the interior 1/1/05 and took our first overnight trip in March over spring break. Over Memorial Day of '05 we headed to NYC and Washington, D.C.
Spring Break of 2006 found us in Orlando for a week. We've made several shorter trips in addition to these.
And no, the interior is still not completed, but it is functional.

OK,
I've been asked about a dozen times to postpictures of my bus. You asked for it, You got it! She ain't pretty but she's mine!
that being said, I've had a few people tell me that they don't want to bring their buses to a Rally, ANY rally because they aren't done, or they aren't up to snuff, or they did it their way, or, or , or.....
Heeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeessssss, MILLIE!
I just returned from a Bus'n long weekend and a guy used this 1980 Eagle/6V92T to pull an ice-cream stand. He didn't seem to be a "busnut" per se (he may be? didn't get to talk much as he was busy selling ice cream!), but he clearly is a bus genius. Sorry no pix of interior, but the interior is drop-dead georgous, and essentially completed. Slides give the interior a large feeling. Interior decoration resembled a luxury condo with Austrailian Ceder flooring, granit countertops, framelss solid glass shower enclosure. The bus exterior is really smooth. He's doing the old "Hot Rod" trick of shaking out the joints before painting. Got a couple of fixes...nothing major. The pix tell the story! The owner lives between Atlanta and Augusta. Enjoy, JR
BTW Dallas, your bus looks great too!
I paid for a campsite and got this! >:( Couldn't even put the awning out! What with the cold temps and wind it didn't matter. Drink too much cool-aid and wander out the front door and.....OOPsie??
At least we had good power...and lots of buses for neighbors.
There's an LAG conversion...pretty rare..don't think I've ever seen a converted LAG. The exterior wasn't converted, but folk were camping in it. Never caught them at "home." Dallas, bus is looking Great! Better slow down on that conversion! ;)
See you this weekend. JR
Hi Everyone!
I am new to the board, and My son and I are going to be fixing this up and converting this little bus.
It's a 1986 Neoplan AN408. Its only 26' long and wants to grow up to be a big bus someday...LOL

How about a little information about her please? Year, Make, Model, engine, etc. Please!
Richard
Ok Richard, I guess I should have said a little more about her.
Her name is Millicent and she is a 1952 GMC PD4103
She has the standard engine of the time, the 6-71N and I'm not sure what she puts out for horsepower, because when I was replacing the head gaskets and fire rings I found she had 3 N65 injectors, 1 HV7 and 2 N60's. With advanced timing she does OK on fuel.
The transmission is the standard Spicer Crash box and the rear gears are 3-2/11:1
I do my best not to find any hills to stop on or back up on.
I've rewired the entire dash, drivers control panel and engine compartment and made corrections on the wiring diagrams as I went.
The interior is done up in early American sanitary landfill, since I had knee surgery in February and was in the middle of remodeling and then work seemed to get in the way of the important stuff.
Plans for her are to paint her back to approximate 1952 Trailways Livery, including the National Trailways Logo.
She's my OTHER sweety and we'll probably have her for a long, long time.
Here's my 1976 4905 as purchased from Michaud Bus several years ago. I had US Coach take care of all the mechanicals but the projecthas been on hold since I came back from the Middle East and funds haven't been readily available. I'm getting pressure from our budget coordinator (me dear wife) to sell it or do something with it. I'm choosing to get the project moving again and hopefully has it usable within a month or so. The inside is stripped but I already have most of the interior/tanks/pumps and boxes of other stuff. The two major systems that I'm in need of are generator and A/C. The bus A/C is dead so I'll be ripping that out to make room for the genset. I'll probably go with a Wrico unless I can scroung something locally.

HA! I finally figured out how post a picture.
Here is our 1964 PD4106 with 8V71 and 4sp Spicer. It was converted in the late eighties.
This is our H3 model Prevost home conversion we call "Fools Gold " while parked in Arcadia at the Bussin 06 Rally. Picture taken at dusk.
Ace
Right- Here's pics' of the old girl. From the info I could gather so far it's a 1947 model 41.
I fell she's a looker with much potential (aesthetic, anyway). It's all there with just the center rear running lamp and headlamp broken. The driver's side glass and one rear glass is also cracked and a couple of side panes are missing/broken. Plus, the grille-guard below the front valance is a bit bent.
The dents are only in stainless (?) surrounds on the front blinkers and trim.
It does have a lot of stuff to polish. The whole front roof marker lamp cap is stainless or aluminum as is the wide strip down the sides. The only chrome I could find were the bumpers which were painted silver at one time. The destination marker on the front has a broken plexi and the roll is torn up.
Inside some starlings lived in the overhead vents and a blacksnake kept them in check. It stinks of bird droppings and most of the dash area and gauges have a good amount of surface rust. There's a lot of hay around the drivers' area which I suspect was used for the nest building.
Also it says "Air conditioned" over the entrance door. I would have never thought!
Sadly the "wig-wam" which swings back and forth to remind of low air pressure is complete but was used a a perch—so it is heavily pitted.
If I can get it fired I'll have a better idea of it's fate—if not, I guess it'll make a nice looking shelter down by the pond—or sold to someone who can fix it—something I'd rather not see happen.
Another-
And one more-
This is "Frieda Roam"...our 1946 ACF Brill IC-41. She has a balanced/blueprinted Hall Scott 779 cci. 6 cylinder gas motor and a 9 speed Eaton Fuller transmission...twin stick! She has 24.5 Alcoa Wheels, Garrison Steering and a full RV conversion. I did not build her. The gentleman responsible bought her in 1967 after her career with Santa Fe Trailways. He did all the conversion and then owned her until the early 2000's. She changed hands twice until we had the opportunity to have her. She would be considered an old conversion but she has been loved and cared for so nothing needs to be changed. The appliances have all been upgraded. We live full time on the road doing wildlife work and she is a major part of our program. Later I will post better photos with interior shots...all stainless and beautiful woodwork. Low and lean and very fast...although I like 60mph...she goes way beyond that and averages about 9 mpg. Sounds funny but she rides like a Cadillac on the highway and forest service roads. She still has the original drivers compartment..speedometer with speedograph cards...kind of fun!
We often run into fellow busn' guys at music festivals...last week at Mt. Airy, NC, we ran across this gem of a Flex...still has the gasoline engine, dual exhaust and appears to be in really good condition. Owned by one Eddie C. from Maryland. Bus came from Minnesota. I tried to get more info, but failed to catch him at the bus. Believe the coach was bought recently off Ebay.
Eddie didn't seem to access any bus websites...real "do it yourselfer." Needless to say, I recommended MAK's website as an excellent source of support and information.
Eddie and my paths crossed (and haven't crossed again until last week) back in 1976 when he was a combo bus mechanic and dancer with the Green Grass Cloggers. My wife and I danced with another group so we occasionally met. His bus mechanic skills interested me...that's the only reason I remember him...that also give some indiction to when I became interested in owning a bus. Green Grass used a '49 Flex for a travel coach. Eddie was always working on the thing. Apparently he still enjoys working on them.
Enjoy the pix!
BTW, Phil, if posting pix of others coaches is considered not cool, let me know. Best, JR
Ok I finally learned how to post a picture of my baby!

Hi All! Beautiful bunch of busses. Here's Jack. 1980 MC9. Currently skinning him, will send new exterior photo when done.

Our latest pic of our finished BR. I say finished but we still have to do a TV cabinet. Other than that, it's all done including vinyl covered ceiling panels and window treatments along with a cheap simple valance. All trim mouldings have two coats of clear laquer with two or three more to go. Now to do the bathroom ceiling, IF it ever quits raining! :)

Repainted the front and the back half of my Eagle.
We compare her to the Phoenix, she is coming along.
Richard,
At least someone is bringing her back to life.
And what a pretty Eagle she is!
Here's the last pic of my bus and toad...for the record. If the moderators will please delete the previous pics it will free up some space.
Thank again to Dallas for the neat crop and resize job.

This is my coach which I have owned for about three months now; I'm based in the UK, so this is a bit different to your usual heavy US metal - it's a British-made Plaxton Paramount body on a Bedford chassis, built in 1987. It is unusual in being a short wheelbase version, at just 8m long - I spent a long time looking for an example of this 'short' version as the driveway and parking space at my house is too tight to get a full-length coach in. Also, the extra manoeverability of a short coach will be a benefit at a lot of the venues I will be taking it too - remember that the UK is a pretty small country, and Class-A motorhomes or coach-conversions are a pretty rare sight, and frankly something of a liability in rural areas.
The Plaxton has a 500 cu.in turbo-charged engine in the middle, and is classed as a 35-seater. Body width is 2.55m and 10'9" tall (sorry about the mix of units). Weight is 7.5 tons unladen, 11 tons gross.
The internal height is around 6'2" above the central isle / walkway, but unfortunately less than 6' on either side - so I plan to raise the roof, but I shall do this by raising the central section of the roof panel, rather than by cutting through the side window pillers. I'm doing it this way for various reasons, but mainly because I don't wish to disturb the windscreen or the front side windows, which will be retained as part of the conversion (all the side glass is tinted, double-glazed and bonded-in flush with the body, so I see no point in removing the font windows only to replace them with inferior RV units).
The 'second' and 'third' windows (the middle and rear large windows) on both sides will be replaced by slide-out units that operate within the large window frames (ie, requiring no modification to the structure of the body). Although these slide-outs won't increase the amount of floor-space inside the coach, they will make the inside 'feel' a lot bigger, and of course will effectively increase floor-space as cupboards and units can be mounted in the slides rather than taking up floor space. In addition, the bottom of the slides will be some way below 'worktop height', so I am thinking seriously about the idea of having the kitchen and bathroom sinks and counter tops within the slides.
There will also be a slide-out out of the rear of coach, which will contain the bed. This slide will be 'full height', but again will require no modification to the structure of the body, as the rear wall is just fibreglass.
None of the bodywork will be started until the winter, as at the moment I am using the coach as it is to travel to sailing events (which is my hobby) - so far all I have done is have a towbar fitted (tricky, because the chassis stops at the rear axle), and sorted out the essentials of the electrics - namely 4 batteries for the 24v system, 3 larger ones for the 12v system, plus a 3kw silent generator and a 1800w inverter (remember that we use 240v, so that is equivalent to a 6kw 120v genny and 3600w 120v inverter).
Next on the list is the plumbing system, so I am just beginning to collect parts for that.

I think i got it, but only one picture.
Here's a new picture of the new Peninsula glass that was actually installed last October. The bus is an '77 AMGeneral 10240B transit. 8V-71N (soon to be TI) and V730. 130gal water, 85gal gray, 45gal black, 2-10gal elec water heaters (one feeding into the next with the final one powered through the inverter), hot and cold copper ball valve manifold, Quest water lines, 50 amp single leg pole service, 20 gal propane tank, 10kw Powertech Diesel gen mounted next to the drivers seat like a front engine with the radiator remote mounted under the drivers seat, 2- Trojan 1000cca size 31 cranking batts & 2- 8D Lifeline AGM deep cycle batts connected with 300amp solenoid controlled by driver (either ignition or manually), 80" x 60" pull out sofa in front with Flexsteel recliner across, 9ft kitchen counter with full size double sink, 3 burner propane stove, microwave, toaster oven, 78" x 42" dinette across. Built inside the rear door is the bathroom with 36" x 36" square shower inclosed with both a hall door to the bath and the shower and access straight to the bath from outside, 80" x 60" queen bed in back, 10ft total of hanging space, Splendide washer/dryer, Norcold 6.3 AC/DC compressor type reefer and a 100# Norcold AC/DC compressor type chest freezer under the rear seat of the dinette, 66" long x 22" high x 99" wide underneath storage, house type entertainment center in back, 13" color TV with separate VCR and car type stereo up front.
So you can see, transits can also have it all, except the massive storage of the highway buses. Good Luck, TomC

Hey maybe I got it this time, we should have a first shot of bus in field when purchased followed by a couple of more recent exterior shots. 1958 PD4104 with 1958 landrover toad.
This is our 1988 Eagle 05. We purchased it in August of 2006.
Right now, it's our once-a-month, long weekend get-a-way.
We have our own business and it's hard to get a way for longer than a weekend,
but hopefully one day, we'd like to hit the road cross country.
We sure do love that Eagle ride!

Hello Folks,
Thought I would put a little intro here along with my "new to me" coach. I have been kicking around posting the picture as I think it has a little ways to go to really look as nice as most of yours. You all have some super nice busses!! I love'em all, old to new!!!
Mine is a '73 GMC 4108. It has a 8v71 and allison auto. Other than that......... I'm still learning!! ;)
As a matter of fact, I just committed the cardinal sin of owning a diesel................. yep, ran it out of fuel. >:( :o :-[ :'( *#$%@*& Any easy ways to prime the ol'girl back up?? Man, if you have ANY suggestions, please PM me as I don't want to hyjack this thread. It's too cool.
Anyway, here she is:(https://busconversionmagazine.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi58.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fg279%2FSkulptor%2FCoach2.jpg&hash=9eba256e929e56f75ab61199e972e8ee651589d0)
I guess the old saying applies here too- "don't laugh (too much), she's paid for". lol
(https://busconversionmagazine.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2F%5Bimg%5Dhttp%3A%2F%2Fi58.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fg279%2FSkulptor%2FMotor%2520Coach%2FDSCN1487.jpg&hash=c00f0a88a0c6bf693cffa7577bdbdcb91db05f95)[/img] Some one before the guy I bought it from did a pretty nice job building it into a coach, but I am going to re-do allot of it and "soften" up the interior.
I will be having ALLOT of questions to post so I hope you all don't mind and can help. But my first one will be how can I get it running again!! ???
Thanx for the great site!!! I'm a "nut" and it's great to find a bunch more!!! ;)
Chaz(//)
Well its home!!! Only had to drive it 50 miles or so but every thing went well, brakes felt good, trans shifted good, engine ran good. The ride and handling was better than expected, front end feels nice and tight(https://busconversionmagazine.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi44.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Ff6%2Fjaybe_2%2FDSC00406.jpg&hash=979b41fcce7c979732f62d5e7be6829ed5fc5dcc)
I feel deprived... but here goes. Remember, it is a work in progress!
Hopefully I followed the directions on posting photos correctly.
My bus and I. 1991 Neoplan just out of service, it still has current license, 8-92 with push button Allison. Speedo doesn't work but my car reported 70 mph when I was at about 1,800 rpm. Drives great very lite steering and no pull. First project is to see if it fits in my shop; 42X48 with 12 foot doors. That is 42 feet deep so it will be close if it doesn't fit the next project is an addition to the shop with a 20 foot long pit.

I was just looking for some images of diecast models for a new magazine website I am putting together, and I chanced across this model of your bus: It looks like the grille is slightly different on the US version, but other than that it looks the same. Cool bus and a cool model (and less than £18, so pretty good value)

And a model of my bus! (Actually, not that I'm picky or anything, but it's a very slightly earlier version with the step in the side glass just behind the front door).

Got the bus in the shop, felt like docking the QM, with the help of several spotters had inches on either end. Had to remove the mirrors to get through the 10'X12' doors but they slide on and off; you can see the slide at the top front of the side window.
.... oh yes, the other end of the bus and open side door.
Was going to send this pic to H3Jim who is converting a H3 also but since I don't use my aol account any longer I lost a lot of email address's so here's to all!

I took the liberty of combining some posts, deleting some posts and moving some photos to get this all together under one heading. Richard 11/11/06
06/05/06 Hello,my name is Frank Mooney, and for some time now,I've been reading all of your post, this is my first time posting.I have a 4501 that I'm doing some upgrades on,my biggest challenge is going to be supplying air conditioning to her.She came with 2 roof tops airs which I removed.I like the lines of the scenics, and don't really care for any type of roof wart so to speak. The bus at one time had central air,but the previous owner said that it didn't work that well,so he tore it out.I know of one gentleman (Frank Allen) that has a regular type of automotive set-up that runs off the engine, and I think I would like to run this type of set-up on my bus.The challenge is going to be,how can I run this type of system going down the road......boondocking....and in a campground using shore power.Any and all suggestions are appreciated,thanks.....Frank 4501-082
Udate 11/11/06. Hello to one and all,I have the 1954 Scenicruiser that is in the Bus photo section.Their were a couple of comments as to who I was,so this is the reason for the post.My name is Frank Mooney, and I reside in San Diego Calif. The Scenicruiser is serial #082,and I purchased this converted Cruiser in October of 2005 from a Mr Bill Dumas in New Mexico. My first of many goals in the reconversion of this bus,was the outside which is more or less done.I now have turned my attention to the inside of the bus.Theirs only a zillion things to do to a bus,as you all know.I'll update as I go,thanks for the comments..............Frank Bosshosssport96
Ok, so how does one follow that Scenic Cruiser with it's fantastic workmanship? You can't ... but nonetheless, I'll post our humble MCI, MC-8 and return the thread back down to earth. Kinda like a talent contest, you get the one really great singer and the next poor schmub after him simply sighs and hangs his head -- but then the others following the schmub feel a little more at ease. Ok, I'll be the schmub. :D
Oh, love the paintjob for sure ... especially the greyhound with sunglasses. No one mentioned dollars and cents ... or is that politically incorrect? Besides this bus, I also liked the fresh paint, stainless and chrome on a 4104's engine compartment posted earlier.
Yesterday while talking with a bus driver from Pittsburgh, I said I'd love to have an engine compartment with nice paint, braided hoses, chrome and such. But he pointed out the obvious ... even to me ... find a DD that doesn't leak oil.
Jerry H.
ok, on to the photos...
... and so it continues ...
Ok, beyond "da bus" ... there's hopefully the reason we have a bus.
And that's to enjoy it and have fun with it.
In our case, it's most often with the kids. Whether just ours or with their friends in tow, we enjoy traveling to amusement parks, we do birthday parties in it, the mountains, the beach, etc. Point being, although there are challenges in owning and converting a bus ... for me (us), it's the ultimate use of the bus.
Jerry H.
Fellow Bus Nuts,
I was wondering if it would be possible for the owners to post their pictures next to their bus, or start another section, or add to the Bus Photo Album? ???
As we are new to this board, we have not had the chance to meet any of you fine folks. We have not been able to go any of the bus rallies yet, and would like to know who we are corresponding with and reading the posts. :o
A name with a face, so to speak.
Dallas, any input here?
Is that a possibility?

Dreamscape
Hey, Paul and Becky!
That's a pretty good idea!
I'm not sure how Nick, Phil and the REAL PTB's would feel about it, but in order to save space here, I would be happy to have anyone send me photo's of any size to my admin email and I'll resize them and post them in a photo album of their own.
Please be sure to caption them with Bus Name, Type, Make, Model, Year, YOUR Name and anything else that you wanted to be included.
They will be available as soon as I can set them up.
The email to send them to is:
admin@busconversionstuff.com
Will that be any help???
Dallas
Dallas,
Sounds good to us.
Then the whole world could see our ugly faces! ::) ::) ::)

P.S... Members only need to modify their Profile to add where they hal from, and any other details they want to add.
Another thing that would be helpfull would be the state that the members are from.
I know that there is a place for it in the members profile, but some members don't even have it there. Just seeing it next to their name would eliminate looking into the profile. That way we get a better idea where everyone is from, and who to call or Email for a visit when we are traveling, or advice if we need help.
Just a thought

Purchased in 2003. Been working on the interior, about half done. Then we can work on the outside, new paint and polish. She's not pretty, but she's ours free and clear.
We named the coach Dreamscape, it has been a dream of ours for a long time to travel this beautiful country.
Happy trails and hope to see you on the road.

More photos in Dreamscapes earlier days with the Dixie Echoes.
Hi All, been receiving the magazine for some time, but just recently checked out the forum. Here are a few pictures of our 1955 SceniCruiser. She has a very basic conversion, with the old 8V71 and Spicer trans still installed, but is practical with Onan 6.5 and large tanks. We have added Alloys and new rubber this year, have an Allison HT750 in the garage, and looking for an 8V92TA to do a re-power, hopefully in '07, if I find an engine.
We use the bus to tow a 35-foot Haulmark trailer for our nostalgia gasser drag car.
More pictures of the bus, and our cars can be found on our web site, if your interested;

Finally figured out how to post these pictures... After much aggravation and frustration. I've been at it seen yesterday! Anyway, I've got 3 more of the interior.
Interior
Here is the last one. Odviously I'm still doing something wrong cause they don't look very good. I took them using the e-mail setting on the camera. They are still too big to post under the max. 128kb allowed, so I reduce them to get under that, and they look fuzzy...
Anyway, she was built in Winnipeg for Greyhound, then sold to Brewster Transport in the mid sixties. I used to drive it in the seventies, and when it was sold in '77, I thought it would make a great motorhome. The buyer then did the first conversion. I got it a couple of years ago. Did a reno inside last winter in 50's theme to match the exterior. This winter, I'm installing a turbo on the 4-71 to give me more power. I really love the old girl. Brings back so much memories... The big old ivory steering wheel, the roar of the 2 stroke from the back, the hand throttle to go uphill with the 4 ways on... We use it a lot in the summer. It even grew on my wife and kids.
I'll post some better pics when I know how.
JC
OK, here we try again.
I went out and took pics again. This time at 640x480, standard quality instead of fine, e-mail mode instead of normal, comes out at 921.6 KB. Let's see.
Well that's not too bad, better than before. Thank you for putting up with me...
Here comes 3 more of the interior that I remodelled last winter. I found the original driver's seat and pax front bench that I got fresly upholtered, as well as the little walls behind the driver and alongside the stair-well with chrome hand rails. I wanted to go back to original as much as possible around the front. Stools are by the Zellers diners suplyer. Counter tops are "Boomerang" motif by Formica. The ribbed aluminum edging (not very visible on these pics) I robbed off of an old cabinet I had in the shop. Chrome drawer pulls are out of an old house being reno-ed. The ceiling was all covered in vinyl. I stripped it all off to go back to the smooth metal. Double bed in back, couch pulls out. I put in a swamp cooler above driver. Works quite well in dry climate here in the west, keeps us cool for driving or boon-docking. There is a air cond further back. Anyway, we have lots of fun with it.
JC
Looking back

Hi all,
Our first bus!! We have two boys 4 and 6 and have spent lots of time travelling through North America and MEX in a Mazda 626!!
This ride is going to be a definite step up!!
1954 PD4104, 6v71, was a Greyhound in SFO for first ten years if her life, US Army in Arizona 23 years, converted to RV by Bruce Coach in BC, Canada, used as an RV ever since.
We bought it on Halloween night this year, going to do a bit of upgrading of the interior. It was a great deal at $17K Canadian pesos!!
22 Ft Awning, 140 Gal Fresh, Grey and Diesel. 80 Gal black, 2 A/C, Gas fireplace.
just a couple more... ::)
...K...last one I promise ;D
I don't have a Photo of the 1960 PD4104 we use for band gigs...
BUT,,,,
I made 2 video clips, one of one of our first trip over 500miles, the other is a short tourof the bus.
Enjoy

Video files can be uploaded to the MAK board just as easily as photographs. the limit is still 128Kb though.
If you have a video that is longer, I am increasing the file size limit on my website to allow up to 5Mb.
you can upload it there and then put a link on here to see it.
Good Luck!
Here is the Link:
http://busphotos.busconversionstuff.com/photo/
I belong to a motorcycle forum also.
www.throttlejockey.co.uk (http://www.throttlejockey.co.uk)
That forum added some kind of a link that you can post a direct link to YouTube videos.
The video is then embedded into the post and plays directly from that posting.
There is a button like the "insert Image" one used when you are adding a post.
We don't "tour" like you would think. We have a few gigs that come up regularly that are over 50miles away and it is easier to load up the band and ride together. Most of our gigs are around the Memphis TN area. (Northern Mississippi, Eastern Arkansas, western Tennessee)

Well, things are progressing nicely on my Thomas TransitLiner conversion. I now have both sides skinned, and the interior is progessing with almost all major items in place. It is still a work in progress, but it is getting there! The skin is FRP plastic panelling, the same stuff used on semi-trailer walls; later, I will be using a polyurethane resin coating that we have developed to seal the ourside (waterproofs, insulates, wind-proofs), then it will be painted over with the colors of my choice.
Here are a few new photos showing the improvements.

Hello all,
Got my first bus about 8 weeks ago and am living in it full time and loving it. had some ground problems with the lights but nothing major.
The bus is a 1973 MC-7 Combo. Spent its time in service running passengers and frieght between Portland and Seattle. It was converted in 1983 by Magic Carpet Co. and then went through upgrades in 2003.
Let me know what you think.
After working on my 82 Eagle for three years completely rebuilding the frame and re-siding most of it, I un-retired and went back to work full time six months ago. This left no time for finishing the Eagle :'( , so I found a 92 Prevost Liberty at a very good price and have been enjoying it ever since. (Anybody want to buy a project?)
Well here is our bus. She is a 1978 GM 4905A. The basics have all been done, but the coach interior needs to be completely redone.
So since I have messed up in this thread, I might as well post a picture of the new project. I posted it in another thread but might as well show it here in the right thread too...

Here's my bus
It's a 2015 GMC Disney Moon transport. It took me 4 days to convert it to a Mooner Home.
It now runs on filtered water and I just replaced the main AAA battery so I'm good to go fo 10 years or so.
Oh, don't tell but, the 3rd axel is a dummy, it holds 4 kegs of my favorite brew...
Next month it hired to transport the "Moon Girls Gone Wild" Show.... Lucky Me!

Hi JM,
I see Dick Cahill did another fine paint job.. You should be proud of your whole conversion.
Lots of luck to you
Nick-
PS, I also like those tail lights.
Thought I would post some updated pictures. Much work has been done over these past months on the exterior. Fiberglass Breastplate installed along with a lot of other work on front cap, driver window frame and pillar on passenger side. Hope to get some paint on it very soon.

1977 GMC 4905A 8V71 730 Allison I am in Joshua Tree CA near Palm Springs
Fully converted, tiled and heated floors, fully tiled shower 2 AC webasto pre heat 8KW kubota gen. Bought her two months ago in Phoenix so far only have driven ~ 600 miles, she is is currently being worked on to make her perfect (keep dreamin' :D )
Interior and exterior along with tires are in near new condition. She is beautiful bus like so many out there and I can't wait until I meet many of our members here. Too bad I have to have an URL to insert pics.
This is our 1966 MC-5A when we bought her about a year ago. The interior is not my first choice but the coach is fairly reliable and steady going down the road and has given us many miles of enjoyment. Barb and Dick if your reading Thanks again and Happy Trails.

BTW, that's a nice clean looking MC5.

Hey JR
My problem is I'm not very good at self denial. I don't fly anymore because of the ticker, I could if I wanted to do all the tests but if were denied a medical I would not be able to fly the light sport category that I will do in the future. Just took my CDL physical today and passed. They make me take one every year because I have stents.
We have some drivers at the bus yard that weigh 300 plus and waddle to the bus. They are all great people and I love them all but sometimes it don't seem fair.
Thanks for the compliment on the bus, I bought it so we could go and camp and build some memories for the kids who are Brian 10 and Zachary 7 years old. Fuel prices have slowed us down a bit.

Thanks, and it does not matter what your bus looks like, any bus is is just plain cool!
I appreciate the encouragement, and the battle scars are livable, but the paint job that makes it look like a Winnie from the 70's really irks me. Once everything is done I think a few coats of silver metallic will cheer me up.

Hello everyone
I look forward to sharing information about my bus 1984 Bluebird Wanderlodge(PT40) 40' tag axle pushed by DDC 6V92 silver 330 hp with the Allison 654 5speed auto and a Rockwell 355. I am also a member of several Wanderlodge groups. The Wanderlodge owner group sponsored by BuyByeBlueBird.com. Our two grown kids and 2 grandsons and 2 granddaughters live in Texas. The bird makes it a nice trip. Our first RV was a 1981 Coachman 22' class C. Right now we are considering some improvements that we want make. Install the home theater , repaint, and my big one is I am looking at a possible re-power to Cummins L10 mechanical mated to the Allison 4060 6 speed auto. The 6 v92 performs ok. I just am not a big stroke fan.I was an aircraft mechanic for 17y wrench bender with J.B. for 2. I have taught auto at the high school & tech school level. At one time I was a licensed airframe & powerplant mechanic, ASE master truck. I have been out of the field for over 10 years now. Unfortunately I have permanent brain damage thanks to a lot of chemicals. I know I will have lots of questions, some information I had and has been lost from the brain damage. ???
Welcome Hugh,

Nice tough looking bus you have there viento. The other one's a little to pretty for me. Never a 'hound huh, does that mean it's never worked a day in it's life? Kinda spoilt, probably needs to be trailered everywhere.
Well I've never posted any pics in here, it's not done but oh well here it goes.

13.5' tall huh? You better buy one of those trucker books that show all the low bridges. You will want a 'heads up' on low bridges. Oklahoma is good. Also good that you don't live in the NE!
Re your brake light switch. You should be able to use any air operated brake light switch. May take some fittings to screw into metric threads, but....?
Good luck, JR
Tymccu,
Shucks we just spent a week in Pryor. Ended up leaving after the snowstorm last Sunday. Wish I had known you were there!

Hello everyone. One week ago I bought a 1985 Neoplan Jetliner conversion. It is my first RV. It has been quite the learning curve. I have a million questions and they keep changing. At first (before I was approved by this website) I needed to know everything even how to operate the driver's seat. I've since learned that scrunching sideways and using my seatbelt keeps me in the seat and not on the floor. It looks a little funny but it is effective.
My questions change day by day as I've gained more experience. I can now turn on the low voltage system, use the water and microwave. I still haven't figured out the fridge, webasto heater or the over-the-road a/c. I don't have any idea about a lot of the bus's operations but it sure is fun at the one week mark.
I look forward to everyone's sage advice. Including this site such as how to post pictures.

Mike,
First, welcome to the wonderful world of busnuts, You do realize there is no cure for this condition? To get questions answered a little quicker, start a new topic with the question as the subject (such as how do I operate my RV refrigerator?, or how Do I operate my Webasto?).
To post photos First put your photos on Photobucket www.photobucket.com After you have the photos on Photobucket.com, go to Photobucket and put you mouse on the photo you want to post. A pop up window will give you several options. left click on IMG CODE It will then say "copied". now go the MAK BB and write your message. Then put you mouse where you want the photo and right click. When the window pops up, left click on paste. You will see the URL for the photo you selected. Post your message and when the post is opened on the Bulletin Board and WaLa, there is your photo. Jack
Thanks for the photobucket heads up. I was probably lucky that it took so long to sign up as I'm sure you guys get tired of answering the same questions over and over again. Soon I will begin asking specific questions.
Mike
We bought a 1969 Eagle 05 conversion in February. It is our first RV.
I'm user on this board from two years ago but never posted, just learning from all of you reading and reading the board.
I've learned about buses and conversions since 2004 with a lot of emails back and forth with Dreamscape (Paul) and finally we purchased one conversion two months ago from a gentleman in Kerville TX. We live in Chihuahua, Mexico.

Hi John,
I've seen that Eagle someplace before! ::) Very nice even though you still steel tent, we've been there before and done that!
Dave,
Outstanding work you have accomplished on your beauty! :) It's nice to see someone update and still keep the nostalgic appearance.

Hey Fella's I finely got around to figuring out how to post pics. We have owned this Eagle for two years now. Terry page of Navada did the conversion with help from BB coach in vegas . We love the old girl she run great with a 8v92 and allision 740 We went to our first rally this past July in Ennis Mt and what a treat it was to meet other Eagle owners . Looking forward to many more rally's and learnning from all of the Bus people out there. Great web site Andy and Eileen
Fellow's,
Whoever had the idea of having bus nuts post their bus and family photos had an excellent idea. I'll bet I have gone over this list of buses at least a dozen times just reviewing those that are posted.
There is one posting on page 16 by MCH1936 of his 1987 102A3. In his posting he talks about having the graphics done by a company out of Canada and installed by a Georgia company. This bus is very nice looking!
I am curious as to the material that was used for the graphic decals? I would also like to know how the decals hold up to the weather and sun?
It would also be nice to know the cost of this type of graphics installed?
I am painting my bus and was planning to paint the graphics, but having seen this bus has me wondering if I would be doing the right thing by painting. With the decals I would expect that they could be changed easily? Not so with paint.
Maybe the owner of this bus will chime in? He did not post an e-mail address.
Thanks,
Doug
Andy,
I love it. I especially like the side aisle floor plan with the large kitchen. Gorgeous!

Nice bus and thanks for posting pictures, good luck. dave
Welcome Daniel and Anna,
I enjoy seeing whats going on in other places. Post lots of photos when you can.
Laryn
Welcome! Nice to hear from across the pond! You have a very interesting coach, good luck and be safe!

That looks like a bus with a lot of character. Out of interest, what would the tax cost in Sweden on a younger bus? Vehicles built before 1973 are tax free here in the UK, but on anything built between 1973 and 2001 the cost is reasonable (around £200 per year ($350 or so)). For vehicles built after 2001 the cost is based upon emissions and can get very expensive indeed.

i started my coach "Landyacht" in september 2006. It has been quite an experience, I hope to have it usuable in the spring of 2010. Maybe not completely finished, but usable, so I can get rid of the Winnebago and use that money for painting, etc. Pictures are when we got it, roof raise, gutted and now the countertop.

JOHN
John,
Like the Eagle, but really like the 392 tri-power in the coupe. That old 392 was/is one heck of an engine. If that is your towed I'll bet it could pull the Eagle in a pinch if you could keep the Eagle aired up!
I had five of them at one time. Put a 354 in a 1958 Plymouth Belvedere. I had a custom built set of headers, running 12.5 to 1 aluminum pistons, and a cam with 305 degrees duration and 0.556 lift. I checked the valve to piston clearance and the valve did not even touch the clay. I often wondered just how much lift I could have run without having a clearance issue. I also put a 392 into a 1966 Dodge Town Wagon (similar to a GMC Yukon). These two vehicles were simply awesome and the engines filled out engine bay most impressively.
Aluminum pistons!!!!!!
I dunno if that would work
Here are a couple of pictures of "Evangeline", our 1996 Prevost XL-45.
84dime,
Forged aluminum pistons did just fine. They even had pockets in the tops to increease valve to piston clearance. Oh yeah, I mounted two 650 CFM Holley two barrels on top of it. What music it did make.
Nice Bus mike and terry and welcome
I agree with Andy, Nice Prevost! It's nice to see the older style and in such good shape. A gorgeous coach!
Yes, she is a beauty, Great paint job,
John
I am almost done updating the MC8 that I purchased at an auction two years ago. I just need to replace the drivers windshield and it will be ready for the next owner. It is a 1977 with an 8V-71 Detroit Diesel and Allison HT740 Automatic Transmission. I purchased it for the Martin generator that had 50+ hours, which I plan to put in my Prevost. I had planned on cleaning the coach up and reselling it "as is", but I started updating the interior and got carried away. It was originally converted around 1996 by Ray Goff (I think), who was a member of the Converted Coach Owners Association. Ed Roelle and other members of the CCO were very helpful in educating me about the MC8.

OK, maybe the third try is going to be the charm. Darn pic size problem again.
Here is our coach. We are going into our fourth year of ownership. We have enjoyed logging over 30,000 miles in the first three years and expect to keep racking them up at the same rate this year. Our target area will be Wisconsin and Michigan so honk if you see us out there our give us a call on the old CB.

One nice coach,

I bought this bus recently a couple months back in May. As of last month, all decals ( letterings ) have been removed. The paint looks good so that stays. I fuel this bad puppy up at Clean Energy Fueling stations or anywhere that has a Public CNG fuel pump...especially a high pressure pump for trucks/buses. It costs me about $130 to fill it up vs the $410 for my diesel bus...which has a 125 Gallon Tank. This bus recieved a brand new Cummins L10G engine AND Allison Transmission in December 2008. Ten months later, it was retired from service. The powertrain still has lots of life left with only 9000 miles on both.
Year : 1996
Make & Model : Neoplan AN440
Fuel Type : <CNG> Compressed Natural Gas
Fuel Capacity : 4000PSI
Number of Fuel Cylinders : 12-Lincoln CNG Fuel Cylinders. 10 Fuel Cylinders underneath the passenger floor...and 2 additional tanks behind the rear passenger bulkhead
Fuel Range : 310 miles
Engine : Cummins L10G Bravo 280hp. This bus got a new Cummins L10G engine in 2008.
Transmission : 6 speed Allison B400R6 transmission with retarder
Top Speed : 80mph
Tire Size : 11R24.5

This one is about to be our bus, good Lord willing and the creek don't rise. It is a 1992 Mexican-made MASA Premier. MASA is the acronym for "Mexicana de Autobuses, Sociedad Anónima".
**Seating for 41 passengers
**Powered by a 330-Horsepower turbocharged 6V92-TA, recently overhauled a month ago.
**It has a 7-speed Spicer 1172-AM standard transmission.
**Air brakes
**Unusual, in my opinion, BOTH air suspension AND leaf springs on all four corners.
**Exterior length: 11.235 meters = 36.86 feet
**Exterior height: 3.560 meters = 11.68 feet
**Interior height: 1.980 meters = 6.50 feet
**Exterior width: 2.520 meters = 8.27 feet
**Interior width: 2.320 meters = 7.61 feet
There are MANY bus manufacturers in old Mexico. Hardly any highway buses that are made in Mexico use automatic transmissions. In fact, the 7-speed manual shift is about the smallest you will find in common service. Many have 9, 10 or 13 speeds. Why? We are always climbing or descending huge mountains. (Today from our home in San Juan del Rio, Querétaro --6,800 feet-- to my wife's home town, Puebla --7,086 feet--, we travelled over an 11,000-foot pass.)
Hope I didn't bore you with details!
Dr. Steve, central old Mexico
That sounds like anice set up. and THANKS for the details. I cant tell is that a 2 or 3 axle coach? I think there is alot of interest in multi gearing like yours. As far as the suspension, sounds like the best of both worlds. I would not like coming around mountain rounds rockin and rolling on just air bags. Good luck with your bus and post some more shots (engine room pics!) Here is one of our "new suspension".
Thanks for your comments, DMoedave!
The bus has only ONE rear axle, which is a real blessing, since here in Mexico we pay extra toll for every axle. Example: At one toll booth last night, the sign listed $264 pesos for autos, $460 pesos for 2-axle bus and $640 for a three-axle bus. A recent newscast down here said that Mexico has the second highest toll rates in the world -- second only to Japan. It must be because Mexico is such a rich nation! And if you tow a car behind your bus, add two more axles to the toll-booth charge!
(Note: The bus is not yet ours.)
Did you modify your suspension yourself, or is it that way from factory? Is that an air pressure guage? Is it there permanently?
Here is a not-too-good PIX of my suspension. You can barely see the airbag behind the tire.
Dr. Steve, central old Mexico
World Apostolic Network
By the way, is Mexico the only place in the world where FOUR-AXLE buses were made? These were manufactured in Monterrey, Mexico by the Sultana company. They came with a big-cam Cummins and a 13-speed Road Ranger tranny. And they weighed more than an unloved mother-in-law! I rode them many times. They ran Mexico City to Reynosa and Mexico City to Acapulco, among many other destinations.
Now imagine pulling into one of those anti-bus RV parks with one of these...

Good luck with your bus and post some more shots (engine room pics!)
Thanks for the reply, Señor DMoedave! Here is one of the engine room, as you requested. There is only one radiator and fan, on the left. I think I have enough room to install the generator on the right.
For what its worth, a bus of this make and model in this or worse shape typically goes for between 220,000 - 250,000 pesos. (The peso is approx. 12.60 to the U.S. dollar) My friend is selling me this one for 130,000 pesos, approx. $10,340 U.S.
Okay so I am re-posting here. 1960 GMC 4104 Bus Conversion (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t431cmkpeEw#ws)
Well Peru and Bolivia have at least the MarcoPolo? double decker with twin steers...Not sure where they are made, Brasil I think. I have yet to ride in one, but will try before this is done. Would post a pic but the only thing slower than Bolivian buses in the mountains... is... Bolivian Internet....anywhere!.

**Unusual, in my opinion, BOTH air suspension AND leaf springs on all four corners.
Tell me more! I've heard of leaf springs being cut down so only one or two leaves remain, to only act as location holders for the axle, with the actual suspension then done by airbags. Is this sort of what your bus has? I am thinking of adding some air helper springs or bags to my existing leaf springs, just to help level the bus. (I will eventually have more weight on the right side, and unfortunately the left rear spring is the stiffer one; even now my bus leans slightly to the right.) Do your airbags have ride-height valves to compensate for varying loads, or are they a fixed pressure and firmness?
How does your MASA ride? Does it float or jiggle over the bumps?!
I love Mexico, and my dream (eventually) is to take my bus through the country, and maybe further. This is one reason I chose the relative simplicity and higher ground clearance of my bus.

WOW, very impressive inside and out.
That bus is, as we say in Texas, plum bodacious! ;) How about a couple of pictures beyond the kitchen, to the bathroom and bedroom area? Thanks in advance!

Very Sweet looking coach you have there! Thanks for letting us view what a "Down Under" coach looks like!

Wow, diffidently a first rate conversion. Very tastefully done.

How much would you charge to build an interior like that?

Congradulations! Nice warm interior. Good job....
Our '60 GM PD 4104-4983
Owned for past 11 years. Original 6-71N w/4 valve head, Jakes and air throttle. Upped the tire size to 24.5" when added the Alcoas. Spartan (as in very basic and unfinished) interior, but with all the necessessities for extended boon-docking. Have integral power-steering box but to replace original power-assist, but have not yet tackled install. Great ol' bus, would not hesitate to drive anywhere! Diesel fuel and/or cash donations welcome!!! ;D

Thank You Paul for the GOOD words. We were told the Bay windows is where the driver used to sleep when the owner was inside all comfortable. NOT Positive but sounds almost believable. It is carpeted throughout the bays and interior lighting is intact and the walls are also carpeted. "Who Knows". Could have been an apartment for dwarfs or really short rockstars. :o or maybe a rolling morgue since their is a rolling pull out tray in there too.. For whatever purpose they used them for, they sure have people stopping to ask what they are for. Kinda of makes this even more of a "One of a Kind"

Here's our newest bus. Our other ones are skoolies ('58 Chevy, '63 Chevy, '64 GMC). I bought it in Vegas and we drove it back to Texas. It's been to OK and FL, all within it's first 6 weeks with us. I'm loving it so far. So much fun. So blessed to be able to pick it up. Supposedly was PO'd by the Bellamy Brothers.
Detroit Diesel, 4 speed manual with brand new clutch, brand new Dunlops on 24.5 Alcoas, 15KW Onan, 100 gal freshwater, 100 gallon diesel tank, not sure on gray/blackwater but there's only one waste tank. Interior is dated (Southwest/Miami teal/peach color scheme) but in good shape. Lots of to-do items with it, but we're working through it. I'll be posting lots of questions and get to posting more pictures in the future.

Hey Nick & Tonyea. I didn't get a chance to stop by at the rally. but your coach really looks great, how come you dont want to tell the folks, that the windows in the bay doors, are really the appartment for your butler and housekeeper, I know they are really, really short. but you treat them well. I see at least they have windows for their downstaitrs living room .. LOL. good luck, it really is a beautiful coach.. Steve & Cindi ~Z~.

What exactly is the purpose of the opening roof section? Looks really well fabricated
Jeremy
We had the old A/C unit removed as it was over a ton of weight between the pump and roof unit so as there was a gaping hole this is what I decided as I wasnt going the full roof lift package as most do.
Im only 5,9" and our roof is already at 5,11" so I saved a fortune by being short for once :)
Idea is to get a great view of the stars when kicking back in bed, plus being able to open this bigger area meant I can cool the bus down easier and run the new split A/C less.
Plus I had some spare rams kicking around and thought Id better use them.
Ive got a personal joke running with a mate,I told him it was an airbrake as our Merc is so much faster!

Here are a few picture's of our Baby We call her Nelli .1957 pd4104.All the cabinet work was done by me and the mechinal by my honey..Of course I am also a grease monkey not afarid of getting in and helping out.I have put in a couple of her when we brought her home and a couple of her now after I tore out and remodled her in side .I have a complete video of her thru the wole process and also on busnuts group photo's are more picture . She is a project still in process but we love her and now are full timeing .
This is our 1966 GMC 4107. We got her in 2002 and redid the interior from the walls and cabinet units out. It didn't have counter tops, doors, bed, or flooring. It did have a mixture of old rv furniture. Since we have added a lot of the extras, complete electric system with a 7.5k onan quiet pack, 3000 inverter with auto-transfer, 10 golf cart batteries, in-motion tv with a 32" HD flat panel and surround sound. As they say, there's always something else to do.

New to the forum so I guess I'll start here. I am a senior master auto and light truck tech of 30+ years. Fabrication, restoration, and anything outdoors are the things that keep me going.
Well ... I guess I am a glutton for punishment as I'm on my second schoolie conversion. My first attempt fit a need as a camper that I used mostly for fishing trips in maryland. Pretty basic, conventional body, gas motor, allison auto, full kitchen, no bathroom, window A/C out the back, small 3k gen. Lots of good times in the 10 years I had her when my daughter was younger but I wanted better and learned alot along the way.
Second attempt started life as a 1996 Amtran, International dt466, Allison auto. I am planning to spend many years running this one around the country so I am trying to do everything right. If you see a better way please let me know! So far it is about half done ... at least in my book. First project was a 4 inch roof raise, skin the sides and RV windows. Three power sources, 50a plug in, Honda 50a generator and lastly 4000w inverter. 15k btu ducted heat pump / A/C. Propane furnace, stove / oven, water heater. Full bath this time. 105 gal fresh, 110 gal grey, 35 gal black. Rear bedroom with queen, single side bunk, drop down dinette. Well I have lots to do yet so I will be looking for your input. Thanks in advance.
Scott
looking good all of you! what kind of milage you getting on the Amtran? The second bus is always better.
Haven't driven it far enough yet to check mileage but I am hoping for alot better than the 6-7 I was getting with the first bus.
A little peak as we get further into the finishes...

Now to take a break & go to a rally...
Hi,
My wife and I are newbies. Longtime lurkers, but first-time posters on BC. Here's a shot or two of our "under construction" MCI-9 and a shot of us at our wedding a year and some change ago. We had fun at our wedding... :) Converting our coach...that's fun too...at times.

Hi All,
Here is our new project, an 1989 Eagle 20 partially done. Since we have had it we have removed the stock air and 4 stock windows. Re sheeted the side and around the back. I will post pics of that project later but I thought I would get a few pics of her up on the site.
Thanks,
Ford Foragers

Those pictures looks like the bus is in Las Vegas...
Is that a New Jersey Transit bus or did other operators use that destination sign design?
The Eagle pix could be an NJT...it has the bumpers, destination sign, and bi-folds. Eagle also supplied MCI coded wiring harnesses when spec'd for NJT. NJT MCIs and Eagles are different animals.
I suppose other transit systems could have ordered similarly equipped coaches?
Here's a couple pics taken last week at Mt Airy Old Time Fiddlers convention of an '87 NJT MC9.
JR
Len it is a NJT Eagle they did make a real Model 20 for others LOL those Eagles were built just for NJT with the factory air installed in the back cap kind ugly huh but they are a good bus.JR does your MCI have all white wiring like the NJT Eagle ?
good luck
Nice goin James, keep them pics coming buddy! ;)
Hi All,
To answer a few of the questions yes it is a NJT bus with the white numbered wiring :-\ and yes it is from Las Vegas, B&B Coach works to be exact and Gary helped me with the stock air, window removal, and siding. (See pics) So far we have taken it Snow Canyon, UT on a shake out run we boondocked for 2 days with no trouble, except for no hot water we had a great time. I have no idea about the MCI NJT buses heck I hardly have an idea about the Eagle NJT ::). Anyway I'll keep everyone updated on the progress and looking forward to hearing from you all.
Thank You,
Ford Forager aka: James

Nope. Got all black wiring. All feeds are black, and ground wires are white. The only way to ID the wires is to find the stamped tags or imprinted numbers on each wire. My wiring is in good condition so this isn't an issue...it is on coaches that have had "repairs" done to the wiring.
The ATEC and DDEC are Detroit factory harnesses and are color coded and numbered. The DDEC/ATEC wiring is the only color coded wiring on my MC9.
I don't know what all is altered on an Eagle, but NJT coaches are typically a good bit different from standard models. Wheels, tires, brakes, wiring, AC, kneeling system, air system, fuel tank filler, primer system, Vanner, DDEC settings, are all NJT specified. Oh yeah, and the air dryer!
I'd highly recommend anyone that buys an ex-NJT try to find an NJT parts and service manual for their coach
It'll save a lot of time when sorting our air or wiring problems. Since an Eagle 20 would be a DDEC II (?), the wiring would be similar to an MCI 102C? Maybe?

That's a fantastic picture. My first thought was Photoshop, but having looked again I'm thinking that bus actually
was covered in something like nylon fur fabric with rope lighting beneath. If so, I want one!
The bus is a Bristol ECW I think

Yup, looks like a Series 3 VR. I've ridden plenty a mile in them. Is it at Burning Man? I wonder if it's painted with luminescent paint, or something that glows under UV, or perhaps it's Dupont Imron with added LSD?

Butt of course I noticed, so I turned the other cheek. It cracks me up. Though I still like big double-deckers, such as a nice pair of Bristols.
Pundit John
Here is a pic of our bus. It's a 1983 Bluebird Forward Control (front engine), 250 hp 3208 Cat turbo. It is named for it's weight, pretty near 32,000 lbs. We don't go up hill very fast ;D
I loooooove Wanderlodge! Very rare in Quebec, Canada.
I saw a Wonderlodge (recent) in last august coming from Florida and «slipping» near my coach at W-M, Rivière-du-loup (Qc, Canada)
Our 1981 MC-9. 8V-71 with the 4 speed manual transmission. The shell work is nearly complete and hopefully we can begin working on the inside soon.
Yes Burning Man. The bus WAS covered with lights and some type of fur yup.
Just finished taking up old vinyl tile and carpet and installed 18" tile in Kit, Bath & Lr. Still need to install trim but ready enough to travel!

35' 66 Crown, 220 Cummins, 5 speed direct, 3.90 gears, 24.5's. She was a tour bus at Yellowstone Park in her former life. So I contend that she isn't a skoolie ;D A former employee bought it in 85 and converted it over then next 4 years and lived in it until 2003. I bought it this summer.
As purchased:
Roof is raised about 14", 3.5" of that hot blown in insulation in roof, 2.5" in sides, 3" polyisowhatever in the floor.
As purchased it was set up with 2 propane furnaces (remember, it was from montana - it has heated doorseals so they won't freeze shut too - different operating environment than the FL-AZ rigs), non-functioning central air, 6 gal rv water heater, 5L insta-hot for shower/washing machine. 65 gal fresh, 45 gal black/grey, 5K propane genny, 2 12v house/start batteries (inside so they won't freeze - just kill you with their poisonous emissions :o ). 3 way fridge, 2 burner cooktop, 2.5 gal insta-hot at sink, garbage disposal, 2 skylights in every room. Really nice bath/shower. One of those toilets you don't flush only every now and then. Central vac.
Planned upgrade/updates:
Paint the roof with the white elastomeric paint, then chain my 3 teenage boys to buffers and polish the outside like an airstream. Paint the trim etc white as well. Chrome baby moons to dress up the wheels and call it good.
Bought a 280 cummins turned up a bit hooked to a 10 spd rto roadranger so I can pull the race car trailer in the fast lane, or cruise at 70 (I'm aerodynamic so I can :P ).
Changing tanks to 130 gal fresh, 135 gal grey, 45 gal black only. Probably going to 1" insulation in floor to gain storage room.
Adding 4 230w solar panels and 8 golf cart batteries for house loads. Relocating start batteries next to starter vice my bed. Currently completely rewiring for 50A, as it was dangerous before. I mean, dangerous. Retaining the rather small genny and investing in solar instead (next spring). Installed a 2500w msw inverter for vital loads, 300w full sine for sensitive stuff. And a big alternator just for house loads.
Changing to a 12L insta-hot for shower & washer - 5L was to small and parts are no longer available. Adding some propane capacity somehow - have to figure out where to fit it. Probably add a catalytic heater up front for those frosty nights.
Removed the rear furnace, adding 3 mini-split heat pumps - 12kw in salon(front), 9k in galley(mid), 9kw in berthing(rear). Front 12kw one will be inverter type (less starting surge) and run off inverter via big dedicated house alternator so it can be run OTR.
Adding some inside drawers/cabinets, putting some smuggler's compartments like the millenium falcon in floor. Mid engine and 35ft means I have to get creative for storage. Might build a roof rack luggage thing on the front lower roof part, if I can make it look non-beverly hillbillies when it's finished.
And then getting rid the 80's shag carpet everywhere! Blech!
Just made quick video with a few pictures. Enjoy

Nice job, thanks for posting.
Congratulation! Very good job and beautiful video. I Loved to know this artist Miley Cyrus...
Thank you
Thanks guys,
Most of that build was done by the PO. I have since re plumed, remodeled, reworked and upholstered the drivers compartment, polished the SS and this summer have plans for an engine and tranny swap. I was just playing around with youtube and did a quick video. This summer I will do a good video of the whole thing. ;)
PS. I thought the song was a good fit for anyone building a bus.
Hi Yo Silver; First attempt to post a pic of my MC9. Wish me luck.
Dennis
OK, one more try with apologies for littering the thread...maybe it was too big.
D
Looks like a nice coach Dennis. One minor comment. You might want to pull your driver mirror back next to you, like the commercial buses. I like it there far better, but ymmv.
John
Good looking MCI Dennis. Those polished sides really make it pop!
Thanks guys. It took me just four years to get around to learning to post a picture. (I had help) Now maybe I can post some pics of our adventures.

Hi All, My 66 MCI 5A with a 8V71 and an Allison MT643 was a 1986 conversion in Salmon Arm Canada for a country/western singer who traveled in her to their gigs, her husband died and she sat for several years until another c/w singer bought her in San Diego updated some appliances, changed some accomidations and changed the transmission to the Allison in 2003. I bought the 5A from him in Southern Nevada and renamed her The Italian Greyhound after our dogs, Ighy for short. I work in LV and LA and live in her when working in LA. I have gotten a great deal of answers from reading your posts and am greatful for the vast amount of knowledge Ive gained even before joining in with you. It would be great to get to one of the Bus getogethers, having enjoyed the few occasions I have been around other bus nuts recently and with my previous motorhome. I'm trying to figure out how to compress the pictures to get them here but haven't had much sucess. try,

I strongly disagree with that premise. Anyone who thinks they are a Busnut, is a Busnut, whether a bus is just a gleam in their eye which will never really happen, or a million dollar factory conversion, or anything in between.
If you think you belong here, then you belong here. Welcome.

I don't really understand the post. However, if you can't pay to have somebody else do work on your coach, to be on the board, count me out. We have paid a lot of people a lot of money during our conversion. Does that mean I shouldn't be on?
I don't think so at all. MikeK, the guy who owns this board, sell converted coaches. Should his customers not be allowed?
But I still don't think I understand your post, since I doubt that is what you were saying.

Where do we draw that line? We didn't "make" our buses in the first place. We paid for an already built bus. The club is entitled "bus conversions bulletin board" not "bus converters bulletin board" so that would include anyone interested in, or owning a conversion. My wife and I have single handedly converted our own bus entirely ourselves with an occasional weld done by a friend who is certified, but from a seated coach to a converted coach full out with 9 inch roof raise and full interior/glass shower/washer and dryer/twin 100 gallon holding tanks, etc....but I don't feel like I'm better than the guy who paid to have it done. I'm just glad I know every square inch of my bus, plumbing, electrical, frame, and engine. But certainly I have never entertained the notion that someone who paid to have a conversion done wasn't welcome here. If that's the case, I'll find another club to join. I would hope this one is open to anyone. This is America. Love viewing this thread every so often to see what new peeps have joined and what their coaches look like. Keep it coming! ;)
Hmmm. I paid with my checkbook for some of the parts I used in my conversion, so does that me me a checkbook converter?
;D
Even those who do not yet own buses, (as was my own case for many months), come here to learn all they can before they purchase a bus. For me, I learned enough to choose the right one for us and our budget.
In my humble opinion, these forums should continue to be open to anybody interested in the subject of bus conversions.
Wow I thought this thread was supposed to be about pictures not who belongs and who don't!
But while were at it I guess I don't belong because my check book wouldn't cover the cost of paying someone to take pictures of a bus, and I have no converted bus either.
Since I don't have a bus conversion to work on, or pay someone to work on I guess I'll have to find "seated charter bus forum" to join.
;D BK ;D
Lets get back on track, LOL

This bus is for sale.
As advertised here is what is done now
Hi All, I am one of the new people, :o and it's really nice to see all the creations ;D here on the site so I will add just one more to the mix. Hope to chat sometime.
very nice.
We are the Gilliams we live in Central Missouri .We own a 1980 MCI 5 , bought 2 years ago from Carl Moss From Ohio, I saw it listed in Bus Conversion Magazine . When we bought the bus we drove it home kept it a week, then took it to the Grand Canyon. We have used it for several trips to Six Fags St. Louis with the kids and grandkids; we have also took it camping several times. The bus was everything that Carl said it was and when I had the money transferred to him we accidently forgot about the deposit and his wife called me when I got home telling me that she had mailed the deposit back to me . We still talk to each other on the phone Carl is 84 now
It has a 8V71 Detroit Diesel engine with a Four Speed Manual Transmission , Pull out awnings on all windows Stainless Steel Wheel Covers,3 low profile penguin roof air conditioners ,12W KW diesel generator , Convection oven , 2 burner electric flat top stove, inline Ice maker , AC/DC stand up fridge/freezer, fold out sofa bed combo, dining area concerts to a bed , WBACO hot water heat plus heat strips in the air conditioners ,Neo angle stand up shower with wall kit, flat screen TV, 2 stereo systems, The master Bed room has 2 twin beds on a rail system that slide together to make one , Lots of storage areas, it has a 140 gallon fresh water tank ,140 gallon sewage tank. It's already had larger radiators put in it and the only thing I might change on it is to add turbo chargers.
I bought the bus from Carl he is the man on the left of the picture , iam the man on the right
Welcome aboard, Carl. Sounds like you got a great deal on your coach.
Feel free to ask questions on here. Lots of good advice. There are some really solid folks on here. If Clifford (Luvrbus) suggests something, go with it. He has more experience with everything bus related then a lot of us (probably all of us...).
God bless,
John
My names Jeff , and thanks for the advice . Do you know if Bus conversions Magazine will ever come back , or is there a similar magizine out there?
Sorry about that, Jeff. I should have known. You bought it from Carl, and you are not Carl. Wasn't thinking. Sorry.
Bus Conversion Magazine. That is a deep topic. Actually, not so deep. They have promised to send it out time and time again (lost track now). A lot of us on the board have payed for our subscriptions, but it looks like they all ran off with our money. It really isn't a huge deal, because it was usually less then 50. However, there has been VERY little communication about it. When we do hear things about it, they never come true on their word.
As far as I know, there isn't another mag out there like BCM (was).
You should also drop over to see us at mcibustalk.com (http://mcibustalk.com). Good bunch of guys over there too.
Enjoy.
John
Awesome looking bus there, Mr. Jeff! Congrats!
We hope to have ours finished and on the road in 6 weeks. ;D
Hello folks,
I just got my first bus and cant wait to get out in it.
I will be asking lots of questions. But the first things will be updating the interior. Just has the basic setup right now. I will be mainly using it to live in while working out of town.
Welcome, Outlander!
Nice bus. But please remember we like "bus porn". A few pictures of the interior would be great. What type of engine, tranny?
Where are you located on the planet? We are spread all over the U. S. and several other nations.
I live in Baton Rouge, La. my toy has a 8v71, 3 speed Spicer transmission, Model 05. Its pretty basic right now. The guy I bought it from had to repo it and the previous owner was not kind to the interior. But I do have photos of before.
It looks pretty rough right now, but in the coming days will be better then before.
I have question on plumbing for tanks right now and looking for a better setup apart from 55gal tanks, Just need to search the site. Then it is off to remodel the bathroom. But for now I can work with it
Hello folks. Newby just joining in. Here's a 1990 MCI 102C3 that was originally Hormel's SPAM NASCAR/INDY sponsor bus. I got her after the blue and pink paint was covered over by a rather flat grey color. I guess, from reading other posts from the pros here, that I'm more a checkbook conversion guy -- although every detail about my finish out was how I wanted it. I did do the upholstery and tile work and some electrical and plumbing reconfiguration. I reconfigured the Cruise air units to digital thermometers and installed new electric heaters and exhaust fans. The easy stuff mainly. The rest of the work was done by some excellent craftsmen. I should finish up the inside by March this year. She's an 8V92TA with 40,000 miles (on a rebuilt 250,000 mile coach). Here's a couple of pics. We've really enjoyed her. Look forward to see you guys on the road.....

Thank's Robert :) Cheryl and I were pretty excited, this was the first exterior improvements since we got it in 2007 :o. All our other improvements focused on suspension, brakes, mechanical s and interior. I started stripping the paint on the tailgate, and taillight corner doors last summer and am looking forward to completing this project.

Hello folks. Newby just joining in. Here's a 1990 MCI 102C3 that was originally Hormel's SPAM NASCAR/INDY sponsor bus. Welcome! You have a great piece of history! 8)
I would encourage you to start a page in the Bus Project section. That way all of the posts will apply directly to your coach and won't get lost in the shuffle of things!
Been a member for a while but never put up pictures...This is my 1959 4104. We bought the bus a couple of years ago from a guy named Bill who had recently sold a rather large manufacturing plant in Iowa and had retired to the Branson Mo area. The bus showed up on Craigslist, very much out of my price range, I called Bill and told him up front I was just a tire kicker but I had never seen a 4104 and asked if my wife and I could come up and look at her. He invited us up, took us on a ride, then we visited at their lakefront home, thanked them and went home thinking wow what a bus wish we could swing it.
Long story short over the next couple of weeks Bill called me several times each time dropping the price. He told me that he and his wife had decided we were the people who needed to own the bus next. Later I talked with a couple of members here who contacted Bill to buy the bus, both were told the bus was spoken for.
Bill wanted me to come up and get the bus and "try her out for a couple of weeks." This was something I normally would not do, but by this time the price had came way down. We went back up, drove the bus home and spent the next 2 weeks on the road with her. He got the price down so low we could not pass it up. I never tried to talk him down on the price, he just kept dropping the price until we could not pass it up. I had a 1972 22" Barth RV we ended up selling for more than the purchase price of the 4104.
I really Like the style of the GM 4104's and the 4103 buses. anyway here are a few pictures if I can get them to post.
Rick
I love the look of old buses! Rick: How about a few inside pictures?

It's a labor of love.... Sweet bus ;D
Did that bus come from Citrus Heights. If so I was going to buy it 2 years ago. The owner was very honest and told me that a bolt fell out of the flywheel and was laying somewhere in the pan. I said thsnks and moved on. It was is a nice looking bus.

I have been working on my 1982 MCI9 with a double roof for many years-it seems like it should have been done by now, but I think that I must enjoy the building process too much!
Dave,
Why don't you start a project thread so all of us can see why it's taking this long! ;D
Here is some info on the bus we stole. Not litterally the bus was such a deal, already converted and sitting with a full tank of diesel. The bus was not driven for several years, but the bus owner had a truck repair service visiting is every couple of months maintaining the engine.
She is a 1957 PD 4104-2240. She started her life in CA as a bus for the Yosemite NP. She had 3 optional skylights added at the factory (per FVR).
Some of her atributes:
2 roof top a/c's
25' awning
6.5kw gas onan generator, plumbed to former a/c motor tank.
Sleeps 5 plus 2 huskies.
3-way Dometic fridge
Propane heater and 4-burner stove
Microwave
2 sinks in kitchen
Full bath with shower, toilet and vanity.
2 color tvs and each has own antenna
Fresh water tanks under bed in back, gray & bllack in bay.
Inverter.

Unprofessionally converted in the late '70s. We purchased the coach a little over a year ago for $5000, and have been living in it fulltime since then. It runs and drives great, but the conversion is very dated, and most systems have had issues/failures. That was not unexpected as the work done converting it is at best sub-standard. That's okay because we now get to do it our way. We know we have a long road ahead, but with the veritable plethora of knowledge available here, and my own awesome skillset ( ;D), nothing is impossible!
Looks like a nice straight 4106. Rear deck lid looks great.
Hey Samhill ... Post some inside pics. Maybe we can give you a few design change ideas. I totally stripped out a so-called professional conversion and redid it the right way (my way). But was not living in it during the conversion. You may have already seen my interior pics on one of the RVing websites. It's the gray and blue Prevost. I'll try to put a link to the pics here.

There are several hundred more pics of the destruction and construction, but that would overwhelm my Dropbox limit.
4104-1889
Paid $6,500 / Motor is a 671 which I had checked out. Everything looks good. The man I bought it from purchased rebuilt engine from GM in 1974.
Two valve head. Man said it has about 27,000 miles on it now. The bus needs work because it is dated. I drove it to my house, about ten miles.
I was told that it was a transit bus in New Jersey, then a church bought it and after awhile blew up the motor. That is how the man I got from came across it. He did the conversion and it looks nice (just old).
Good looking bus, nice interior. Yes it is dated but thats part of the fun with this hobby.

Hi there! New here. We are moving into our 1970 International Double decker conversion in four days while we build a house. We are blogging about it and have before and after pics at www.littlebusontheprairie.com (http://www.littlebusontheprairie.com)
Looking forward to learning more about bus life!
Link is fixed, DS
Everything works perfect except I had only 3 batteries hooked up so we ran out of power for the furnace because it was really cold so it was kicking in like every 30 min. I'm adding 7 more batteries and 200W solar panels and hopefully that will be enough to run the house fridge and heat when needed over night.

Here is our first bus, 1964 GMC SDM 5302(serial # C050) Was converted to a RV in 1991 and full timed by them up until last week. Some renovations to do both inside and out, with interior taking the first priority. The PO's were full time chain smokers, so needless to say we have some yellowing to take care of...
The 6V71 and Spicer 4 speed were rebuilt 20,000 km ago, and new tires fitted shortly following the engine rebuild. This bus started life as a fishbowl, but unfortunately when the roof was raised they decided to change the front end to something more modern looking (I had a dream of stripping the paint and finding the fishbowl front end underneath....). Runs and drives well, no leaks, solid suspension, refurbishing it is our per-retirment project, then our turn to full time.

That's Josephine just after I picked her up in Minnesota. She's a beaut! A 1954 Flxible Visicoach RV conversion. As far as I can tell I'm the third owner. She never was a passenger bus.At first she was a lab for a utility company in Conneticut and then sold to the family I got her from. They finished up the conversion. She's a blast and gets the attention wherever she goes but I didn't realize she would become a full time job! I wouldn't have it any other way!
very cool, love the lines of the 50's Flxible's, photo's of the interior?

This is my bus. She hasn't yet been named. She's a 1995 International 3800 with a DT466 engine and probably Allinson transmission.
Picked her up a couple of weeks ago - she had a rodent infestation at some point. A previous owner turned her into a hunting lodge and welded a ludicrous back shelf on her.
Full details of my conversion process are at www.schoolbushome.blogspot.com and it is my intention to turn her into a 24x365 livable motor home.

And only 95K miles on her too. Probably genuine because the 55mph governor is still in place!
I am posting this for my father who loves buses. He has every Bus Conversion magazine ever published.
This is his bus:
1964 - PD4106
6v92t w/Jakes
n95 injectors
v730
Spring Brakes
1:1 gearbox w/Sheppard Power Steering
Polyurethane bushings
11r24.5 on Alcoa wheels
This bus accelerates and handles like you would not believe. I call it the 4106 dream package.
I am looking for better pics, but this will do for now.

Hi all. I'm new to the bus thing but I've been owning and driving 18-wheelers since I was 18, so I'm no stranger to large vehicles. Been looking for an RV for awhile for family use and also for a tour bus for my band and was on the fence between a sticks and staples RV or a bus, but I was leaning towards a bus because my mechanical knowledge of big trucks lends itself better to a bus. Looked for awhile before I found one that had everything I was looking for but I found it. This is a picture of me and the band with my oddball bus on its maiden voyage. It's a 1972 Gillig DT16. Originally a 335 Small Cam Cummins and a 5 spd but now has a 350 Small Cam with a 10 spd. Not sure what it was in it's original incarnation but pretty sure it was converted in about 1978. Needs some updating and freshening up but all in all it's solid. Not much info on the net about Gilligs so if anyone has anything to share, go for it. Sorry for rambling and thanks for having me. I'll try to get some more pics of the bus this weekend if the weather improves.
Tcolley
Read your handle and almost thought it read Trolley. I guess the eyes are going now, wonder what is next!
Just wanted to say welcome aboard. There are a lot of great people on this site. Never met a busnut I did not like. Good luck with your Gillig and the updates you need to do.
Hi Tcolley, welcome.
Is that a full tandem out back?
Yessir. Rockwell SQHD's.
Welcome! Nice looking coach you found. Start yourself a Bus Project page and post as many pictures and stories you want. I'm sure you will be changing updating as you go along, it's a great place to have a little history to look back on.
tcolley Welcome and you might try one of these for some other ideas, HTH Dave5Cs

The bus - latest
Inside the magic schoolbus: http://youtu.be/LKe7MzG7rQ0
Just purchased my first bus a 1968 Silver Eagle. Paid just $4500.00 It starts and runs like a champ, but the interior is now stripped and in the process of wiring it to my liking. The 6.5 KW Onan needs a new carburetor, and there are no holding tanks on board so I have my work cut out for me. Both steers are in great shape but the rears show some sidewall weathering but good tread depth.
Lucky for me, Cowells in Joplin is just a couple hours away. My intention is to install and interior that sleeps 8 with shower, crapper, and kitchen. Then use it to travel up and down Baja carrying 6 surfers/divers and stopping at the good surf and diving spots on 4 week trips. I am willing to read all replies, suggestions, and help that I can get. I look forward to being and avid reader and contributor to this forum.
Good find! Colaws in Carthage might have some stuff too!

Dick
Looking good Dick
I don't have a pic of me with the bus yet and I didn't get a selfie stick for Christmas but will work on a pic.
Here is my 78 Eagle 05. I picked it up in November and had a heck of a time getting it home. It took several 6-hour trips to finally get her running enough to get her home. And, that drive took an overnight stop because I didn't want to proceed without running lights nor have a problem in the middle of the Oregon Coastal mountains at night.
Runs like a champ however a bit slow on the hills. I'm spoiled with 4 stoke school buses that climb at 45mph, not 20. Also need to figure where the oil leaks is. There is a big one somewhere that I haven't isolated because there is years of grime and grease on the engine to wash off.
She is mostly gutted leaving me enough necessities to steel camp till I can figure out what I like and what I don't. No need in jumping into a floorplan or power plant change right now. I just want to enjoy the bus.

Darryl, what's your power plant in the eagle? Do you know what your coach weighs?

Power plant is an 8V71, haven't weighed it yet.
Nice to see an Eagle that still has the stepped roof. I have always like that, its unique these days and gives a little more natural light. Its a shame that so many have been capped.
Ryan.
Thank you for the comment. My Eagle even has the rear glass with emergency exit. Its a very cool bus that needed some love and it will now get it.
After the new year I get to finish stripping it out, cleaning out any rust, rust proofing, insulating and making a new home.
Its gonna be great!
Just enjoy the journey! It's a fun project just don't let it get you down because it will at times. It's the nature of the beast! ;)
Just keep the rpm's up high on the hills and watch your temps. Wave as others pass you by and enjoy the scenery! ::)
We bought a 1956 PD4104-1744 in November. It's put away for the winter, but thought I would share some pictures from the trip home.

Very nice 4104! If you don't have a project page, may I suggest you start one. That way all of your pictures can be in one place. That doesn't mean you can't post some pics in other places, it's just a place you can call home as you embark on this new journey.
Thanks. When I start on the work I will make a project page.
PD 4104-3361 .. i gutted it.. redid most of interior.. set it up for being on one spot always plugged in.. what i did with it for last two years.. now that done with that adventure.. im thinking of what i need to do to it to suit more for taking camping
I got this PG 2904-066 in March of 2015. We have put over 10k miles on it since then, the majority of those miles following Route 66 east, and returning west on Route 20. The Buick straight 8 was replaced by a Detroit 4-71 and 5 speed manual. It was originally converted in the late 60's, and was freshened up in 2004.

Really nice looking bus!
More pictures please...
That bra covering the front doesn't look great, but it will keep you warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. The front of those buses is not well insulated, if at all, and air leaks through at speed. I wish I had one when driving in winter.

1969 Flxible Flxliner, #10800. 6-71 Detroit, 5 speed manual. Bought in August of '15, spent most of '16 going through it (Rebuilt trans, detailed engine service, new tires, new water heater, etc., etc.).
Drove down to SW Florida from NW Michigan christmas '16, heading back to Michigan and the real world next week (mid-March, '17).
This post needs some updates.. Love to see where ur at with ur project
1964 PD4106-2516
1st owner bought it 4-3-1989 from an island resort in Washington. They began the conversion and completed it in the early 90's. Not sure why they lost interest in the coach, but my wife's grandfather bought it in 1995. I bought it from grandpa in September 2017.
Pictures are of my daughter from the first time I ever saw the bus (wasn't allowed to enter or touch it), and the day we picked it up to drive it home.
I am finding things every day that are so cool about the coach. It is such an exciting adventure. Love, love, love it!!
Research told me that this was originally purchased by Alaska Hyway Tours. They bought 3 buses in 1964. Bus 2514, 2515, and 2516. They numbered them 109, 110, 111 in their fleet. Check out the really cool and original find. I have all the receipts from the complete conversion along with all the work that has been done since. It is really interesting looking through them, seeing what was bought, the cost back in 1989, etc.
Let me know if the pictures should be sized differently. I have many I plan on sharing on the trip home, along with the story. It was more than an adventure.

New to this forum. Not new to buses, I have been working on buses and motor coaches for over 42+ years, so I know my way around the mechanical side of it. I recently purchased this unit, (cheap) a 1995 Prevost XL 40' seated coach from a customer ( it needed a transmission) series 60 Detroit/B500 Allison. I currently have the whole drivetrain out of it and hope start my conversion this winter. That where I will need some help. Especially on the waste and freshwater tank side of things. I will try and post some pictures as things move along.
Hello Fellow Bus Enthusiasts!
New bus owner here with the WildFlower. She is a 1979 MCI 9 (yes its a girl because I am a father of 3 daughters so no dudes in my family) starting to learn the in's and out's or her. Bought her in Phoenix last month and drove her all the way to Knoxville TN. Just recently came back from Myrtle Beach with her last week. Starting to get ideas on what to do first with her. (repair wiper motors, replace bellow bag, etc) all in all, a great coach for a first time bus owner. Looking forward to learning and meeting you awesome people.

Just purchased, Bring home in spring! This is our very first bus purchase and we can't wait to bring her home and start this new chapter of life!
Huge thanks to all the wonderful people on the forums here, for helping us out with do's & don'ts when looking at a bus to purchase.

Sharp looking bus. Best wishes for many happy miles!
Hi guys and gals...
I guess this is also intro post for me as well as pics of our full time home..
I'm Garrett, we're a family of four full timing for about 6 years though our bus has only been apart of our family 8 months so far. She had some issues at the start, losing the clutch on our first trip about 1500 miles in. Thank goodness for the fine folks at newcastle heavy equipment, chris was amazing.
Currently, we're in the Q for a little bit before heading to our next job at the Grand canyon...
Anyways, heres our '77 mc8...
Bought this bus in '18. Retired Mar 22, so finally hoping to get this conversion done.
I'm back!!
Hi Everyone,
Looking forward to some great interactions on this forum!
We are a large family 10 boys / 1 princess, doing an MCI DL3 conversion. We love traveling and we love fixer upper projects. We also love people and creating new friendships!
Romans 1:16
"For I am not ashamed of the good news (that Jesus brings), because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes"
My wife and I have recently purchased a 2000 Setra S215 HDH and are in the process of gutting her before building our perfect live-aboard. She had been owned by a charter company up here in the Pacific Northwest, and after they removed her from their regular fleet, she was parts storage (judging by what we've discovered in her luggage bays). They sold her to a young man with dreams of converting her, but ultimately no time to do it. He did get so far as removing the seats and repainting her before putting her up on Facebook Marketplace, where we first saw her.
We're excited and scared, but glad to have found a great community of bus enthusiasts with experience and knowledge we can draw upon. I've already inhaled most of the dead battery threads... ;D

Hi everyone, my name is Bill, and I have just recently purchased a 1982 MCI MC9 Custom Coach Corporation bus conversion. We sold the last camper that I will ever own, back in July. At first we thought that we would get a drivable camper, so we looked at used Class Cs, but found that for the same money as the ones we liked, we could get an older Class A. I was doing a lot of researching on them, and watching videos on YouTube, and that is when I stumbled upon Bus Grease Monkey videos, and I was hooked. I really liked the older bus conversions, but that's because I am a car guy, the wife wasn't so keen on the idea at first, but as I continued researching, she seemed to like some of the ones that I was finding. I had joined the BGM website, and met a bunch of great guys on there, and over the coarse of about 7 months, and many dead ends as far as purchasing one, I found a beautiful 89 Prevost in Montana, this was around Thanksgiving, I sent the owner a message, and we talked, but was not able to close on the deal. Between then and Christmas, I found this coach, and fell head over heels in love with it. It was beyond what our budget would allow, but I kept after him, and he finally lowered the price to me. It was still more than I could afford, and it was 5 states away. The wife kept saying, can't you find something closer to Texas? And that was the thing, all of the nicer coaches that I found were on one coast or the other, or way up north. After much deliberation with the boss lady, I finally convinced her to let me purchase this one. I had put it on the BGM website, and one of the members, Walter aka DoubleEagle offered to do an inspection on it for me, which saved me from having to fly up there to look it over. This man went above and beyond for me. A friend of mine and I were going to go get it, as I have never driven anything that big, and he has a Fleetwood Discovery. Well after the inspection that Walter did, we decided to make the purchase, still kind of nervous about the whole thing. Walter then offered to help me get it home, and since he has been around buses and heavy equipment all his life, it didn't take me 2 milliseconds to take him up on his offer. Plans were made, airline ticket bought, and then Walter contacted me again, and said that he would go over and do some pretrip maintenance on it the day before I was to arrive. Walter lives over an hour from there. He changed out bulbs on the roof, tail lights, checked hubs for oil, brought his own generator and air compressor, filled all of the tires with air as it had been sitting for a couple of years, then he met me there the next morning and did 99 percent of the driving, we stopped at the Dayton Air Field, and he let me practice making right hand turns in the coach, then on to Texas, we took it slow, and were on the road for a little over a day and half, and made it to my house just as the ice storm hit there at the end of January. I had to get him to the airport the next morning, and he still had to collect his truck at the previous owners house, his flight was delayed several hours, and he landed in a snow storm in Columbus, didn't make it home until the wee hours of the morning. I will always be indebted to this man, who stepped up for me, like no other man besides my own father.
Anyway, after we got home, I joined the Custom Coach Corporation fan page on Facebook, and found out that this was a unique coach. It was the first one built as a show/demo coach to entice people to buy one, and to compete with what Marathon coach was doing at the time. She doesn't look exactly like she did when she was new, but very close, and has held up really well over the last 40 years. She only has 152K on the clock, and has a rebuilt 8V92 in her. There is more to the story but here she is. I will also add a couple of videos that I did for her.

Hello everyone! New MCI owner here with a 1972 MCI-7. I'm unsure about many of the details since I've only seen it in person twice on two very short trips, but my brother and I are going to pick it up in Western Nevada next month. We inherited this from our father and were so shocked at its condition that we decided to keep it, at least for a few years.
I live in Louisiana and my brother lives in Colorado, so it's been tricky for us to get free time to manage this, but we made a trip back in October '22 and another last month in March '23. During the October trip, we started it up and drove it a little bit but the house batteries were dead so there were a lot of things not working (gauges, headlights, etc.). We purchased new batteries on this past trip and got everything to work, but we didn't drive it due to snow.
For this trip upcoming in May, the to-do list is as follows:
- Replace the tag axle tires and then install those new ones on the steers, and move the steer tires to the tag
- Oil change with Delvac 1240
- New fuel filters
- Change oil on generator
- Change fuel filter on generator
- Get generator running
- Check all other fluids - Coolant, transmission oil, blower gearbox oil, power steering, etc
- Fix a lower awning bracket that broke
- Check over all the hoses in the engine bay. I saw one, in particular, that looked like it was on its last leg.
After the major services are complete, we're going to move it into a campground and plug into shore power and hook up the plumbing to test all of that. Then we'll get on the road to Flagstaff, AZ where we'll pick up a few more passengers before driving back to Colorado Springs. This trip will be done with a 2002 mini cooper S as a Toad. Looking forward to it!
Very nice, congratulations to you both. That thing is sweet!
