It's a good day today! Took the bus for my first drive today, went about 30 miles. Getting ready for the Blytheville trip. It has the 450hp 8v92 and I was surprised at the power, we have a long 2 mile hill on the highway here and the entrance ramp starts at the bottom, the bus just ran right up it gaining speed all the way. No smoke at full throttle. Handles nice and rides like a Caddy, what more can we ask for? Went to a truck stop and paid $4.19/gal for $200 worth of diesel, enough to get me out of this state where the prices will be lower. Wanted to service the air dryer but gave up, it is mounted In a horrible place on the drivers side just behind the rear wheels, I can see it but can't get to it. I've got to move it. So it will be an oil change and a wash before we start for Blytheville on Monday.
How exciting!!! I remember the very first time I took my bus for a drive, I had the biggest smile on my face (like a kid in the candy store) As a matter of fact, I get that same smile every season when I get it out of storage. How much do you think your bus weighs? My 8v92 could use a little more in the hills. I can't say that I feel sorry for you with your fuel prices... I am paying 4.62 per gallon.
BTW... I love the MC-7 Combo!

Don't know your route, but I've consistently found Port Jervis New Jersey on I-84 (not Port Jervis NY or nearby PA - they have prices $.50 more than PJNJ) to have the lowest diesel prices in the northeast US.
Gary, I didn't think anyone was higher than CT for diesel....my condolences!
I wasn't smiling on my drive today.....I was too scared!! I did ok, didn't hit any curbs and navigated the truck stop for fuel ok.
Bruce, thanks for the tip on the port Jervis fuel, I will be going right by there so will check it out.
I changed the oil today, that was quite the messy job, 8 gallons in the 8v92. I also found that on the combo, the side radiator swings open so I can get to the air dryer, will try and tackle that tomorrow. I also need to flush, sanitize and fill the fresh water tank.
PO got 6mpg but he drove at 80mph so I'm hoping for 7mpg if I can keep it at 65mph.
Congrats Bruce!
Diesel is real high here in Illinois as well. Right up there with the worst for high fuel tax. We gotta pay to house all those crooked former governors right? (4 of last 6 IL governors are or were in prison !) I have just enough fuel in the bus to get into Missouri. Their fuel is always cheaper than Illinois. See you soon!
Safe travels!
