For sale locally in Delaware is a used 15kw onan with a 4 cyl cummins. I have no personal interests in this, I am just posting for a friend that is giving up his project. He also has a couple of rooftops. Bruce 302 542 4464
Bruce, Would like to know if it is a air cooled or water cooled, carb model or diesel, even a picture would be great, having been a Onan dealer for 40+ yrs, I have an interest depending on what it is. A model number and serieal number would be good too.
Thanks
Dave M
Never heard of a cummins with a carburator. I don't think I ever heard of an air cooled cummins either. Probably a water cooled diesel about 40hp. If you want an air cooled diesel look for a Deutz.
Probably a 3.9 Cummins it was a 4 banger but would be overkill for a 15kw generator one would think
I will try and get a pic and model number tomorrow. It is a water cooled desiel 4 cyl
I'm interested.
Ted
Model 15DL3J ser.J923965311 spec30437A
A Perkins Diesel on that one
I didn't find any info on the model number with google, but I'm interested. Any more info yet?
Jim in NC
That is great info, it is a Cummins A series now, was the Onan DL engine, no longer produced, but a tuff little unit,
Now that Cummins owns Onan, yes they have the J series, 1, 2, & 4 cylinder, water cooled & air cooled, gasous or diesel fueled. No longer produced, Cummins felt that if they did not engineer it, it was junk, so they dropped the model, many thousands still runing great. Cummins also killed the DL after they made it the A model
Thought a little info for the ones that know everything.
After 40+ years playing these toys, I still laugh a lot.

Ok Dave the one A&A Diesel has for sale here has the model 15Dl3J has a Perkins BTW he is asking 2000 for it he also has Kolher with the same engine they came from the Santa FE in Needles so did they come with a option of different engines are not ?
I forgot Cummins never made the L423 that was Onan's nightmare and you are 100% right when you posted Cummins thought they were junk, label they did manufacture they didn't
The generator has found a new home
Yes, it is home and thank you for all your help.
