The 4106 steering bevel gear is a 1.5 :1 ratio. The steering shaft pinon gear is 18 teeth and the bevel gear is 27 teeth. I want to convert to 1:1 ratio. I have a bevel gear with 18 teeth. My QUESTION is: Is the 18 tooth pinon gear in the 4106 the same as the 18 tooth gear that is in the 1:1 bevel setup (as for instance in the 4105 with power steering)?
Do I need to change the 4106 pinon gear also to complete the conversion?
The reason I ask is that when I just put in the 18 tooth bevel gear & keep the original on the steering shaft, the gears don't mesh correctly even though they're both 18 tooth.

Darrell -
Dunno the answer to your actual question, but do have a comment/question for you:
Wouldn't be easier to just install the entire unit out of a 4905, rather than trying to play match-up?

Hi Darrell & Folks:
The gears are a matched set, so you want to take the complete 4905 set and install it in your 4106.
I Hope this Helps. Happy & SAFE!! Bussin' to All.
