Title: jake brake
Post by: scoobydo42 on November 12, 2012, 10:23:11 AM
I'm trying to find out if I can install a jake brake on a MCI-5 with a 8V71 engine? I want to know if I have enough room with the taller valve covers and will I have a problem with the air cleaner tube to the engine?  Thanks Marty Caverly

My MC-5C came with 8V-71 and jake brakes, so your air horn and valve covers will probably clear.  The air horn is an MCI specific part, mine had two tubes from the air cleaner each smaller in diameter to fit.  Look to see if yours has two tubes or one.

Find a center inlet air horn or take and reroute the intake towards the rear of the engnie by using 2 extra rubber 90 bends then it clears the valve cover
