Dear friends,

Does anybody have a remote genny switch in excess of your needs you would be willing to sell for less than the equivalent of the national debt? (Found one on Fleebay for $158!!!)

Or perhaps a replacement for the switch that mounts on the genny, (off, on, spring-return-to-center start) which could be remoted? I don't want to have to get out of the bus to press the started switch.

The generator is a Honda EB6500, electric start.

To clarify, we're just talking about a start switch for the generator engine, not a transfer switch for the generator power?

For a petrol generator any two position switch (ie. an old car ignition switch from a scrapyard), or a combination of an on-off switch and a momentary switch would do the job. There are lots of choices on Ebay for not much money (eg the one below on UK Ebay for £18, which is around $28):

You have to leave the switch on the generator Steve to remote wire the generator btdt any remote Onan or others panel will work and have the diodes call Dick Wright at Wrico he may can help at a decent price or Northwest RV Surplus he had a ton of remote panels for 10 buck each last time I was there some with hr meters

        Dr. Steve,  I'm guessing the Honda generator is gas, so you wouldn't need a switch for glow plugs (that would only be needed on a diesel), but you probably will need an ignition on-off switch as well as the starter switch.  And note that Clifford mentions diodes - my guess is that there's a system (maybe to stop one switch group from feeding back to each ohter -- but that's just a guess) that's needed instead of just a simple group of switches.  If there is an hour meter on the generator, you wouldn't need a remote one (although they're pretty nice to have).
