The gasoline tank for the original A/C system on our 1960 4104 has been used for my genset...(as I am sure most everyone has done)
Well my bus sat for a few years (before we bought it) and this tank is rusty...
How the *%#*%$@#*^#* do I get to it to remove it and either de-rust it or replace it with an old fuel cell.....???!!!
Thanks!
Dave
It drops down between body and front axle; somewhat snug fit. You probably should have access to a pit. We had a metal shop fab a new tank using the old one for a pattern. Eliminated the recesses on both ends. The new tank held about two gallons more or now 29 gallons. This was done about 20 some years ago on our previous 4104. Although we didn't, a fuel sending unit could be installed while you are at it. Because of the shape of that tank, the fuel level will drop faster after 1/2.
Thanks for the info...
I believe that will have to wait until we get to AZ.....
I just bought a 16 gal "circle track fuel cell" from Summit Racing for $169 to fuel the genset until then... I REALLY dont like fire and explosions......and after I will run both tanks.....

forgot to mention...you also need to disconnect the fuel filler pipe at the tank before dropping.
