I know I touched on this in my other post, but it seems that post is only talking about engine choices for the time being. Any suggestions on an auto trans that would go into the back of my 47 pd3751 and bolt up to my stock 6-71 with a v-drive. I'm not afraid of swapping out the rear axle if I have to.
Lot's of people tout the advantages of the V-730, but for a 6-71 I would give serious consideration to implanting a VS2-8.
Other than the VH series and some off the wall transmissions, you don't have a whole lot of choices.
Have you considered building the 3751 into a T-drive (OUCH, OUCH, OUCH, it was just a thought guys!), and installing something like a cummins ISB with a Allison 740?
That would be lot's of work and some good engineering, but it sure would open up your options!

When I tried going this route with my 4104 I was told there was no AT suitable for a 6-71 because the performance would be so poor. I didn't pursue it any further because I adapted to the four speed pretty well and forgot about it.
I wanted an AT so my wife could drive but now she likes it with me doing all the driving.
Will the V-730 that is currently behind a 6V92t work?

If you think that your Silversides is slow with the 4-spd manual, it will be worse with ANY automatic.
Unless you shoehorn that 6V92T in the back end.
Then you've got to deal with the associated problems I outlined earlier in the other thread.
The main advantage to the automatic is around town and wiggling into campsites.
Otherwise, it's slower and burns more fuel.

This might sound stupid, but since I'm a newbee at busses, is there a syncronized 4 speed that will bolt in? my wife could probably handle that.

No synchronized 4-spd for GMCs, sorry.
It's not that hard to learn how to drive a non-synchro, just takes practice - she might even get better than you at it!! :o
