Title: Front Bumper for 1956 Greyhound 4501
Post by: Kellie Varga on October 11, 2012, 11:10:22 AM
I had a call from somebody looking for a front bumper for a 1956 Greyhound 4501.  Does anyone have any ideas where to get one.  Thank you in advance.

The front bumper for a PD-4501 Scenicruiser is the same as a PD4104,PD4106 GMC coach.
Call Luke at US Coach. 1-888-262-2434. Bet he will have one.

I have not called Luke, however if he has them I will be jumping for joy. I thought they were made of 'unobtainium'!

I thought the 4501 had round lights in the bumper and the 4104 and 4106 had rectangular lights we used a 4905 bumper without lights and cut the holes round lol guess we screwed that one up

Since the front bumpers of the 4104, 4106 and 4501 are the same, it's entirely possible that 'Hound could have installed an '04 bumper on a Scenic if either one had been in a fender bender and that's all the local HD shop had in inventory at the time.  The reverse is also true.

I think, but am not positive, that the optional fog lights (which necessitated the "holy" front bumper) were not ordered by most of the Greyhound divisions on their Scenics.  It was a semi-popular option on '04s and '06s with other carriers, tho. . .

FWIW & HTH. . .

All the 4501s had fog light behind the bumper when new. Most of the fog lights were removed during the 1961/1962 Marmon-Herrington fleet rebuild.
The correct 4501 bumper is aluminum (not stainless) with holes for the fog lights.
