Title: heat pump rooftop ac unit do they work?

Hello   Does anyone have any experience with the newer tye roof unit with heat pumps.  I wonder how much heat is actually produced

Have three 15,000 Btu units...work great. Need to be around 40 Deg. F or above.

Hi Mike,

David is correct though they will still produce heat below 40 deg's,  the efficency

curve drops as the tempature decreaces. The roof top HP's are not designed to

except electric resistance heat for back up while the HP's goes into defrost mode

like home type HP's are designed. Mostly because your coach is limited to the

power supply of 50 amps.

I have 2 HP systems in my coach but, I also have a webasto system. I do use the

HP's most of the time..

Dometic says their new Penguin 2 will work down to 30 degrees neat setup I saw at a RV show the Penguin 2 will turn the furnace on at 30 degrees when it reaches temperatures below it operating range I thought it was neat anyway lol
