Title: 8v92 Runing rough at 1750 rpm
Post by: Just A Newell on September 23, 2012, 12:49:17 PM
Friend of mine Is on the road coming home from Indianoplis having trouble with his 8v92 in an 89 Newell missing once he gets to 1750. Before that it runs normal building boost and plenty of power if he keeps the revs under 1750. Fuel filters have been changed. Has any one experienced this.

He should be throwing a code most of the 89 models of Newell were a DDEC 1 it's most likely the TPS causing the problem

It sounds like a drive-train problem to me.

Is that 1750 in every gear, or just in high gear?  If it is in high gear, I agree with Geoff-probably a driveline problem.  If it is in any gear-could be a flywheel or torque converter about ready to go.  Good Luck, TomC

It was 1750 in every gear, it got worse closer to home. We have come to the conclusion that he has algae in his tank.
