Post by: luvrbus on September 01, 2012, 07:10:29 PM

Here is the deal I installed the new motor did just like the book called for easy cut the red, yellow and black tie those back together from the new motor plug the brown and the white wire only two wires with plug ends so I couldn't screw that up it all matches the schematic.

Now the compressor runs for a minute and shuts down any body know what is going on I been on the hot @$# roof all day and very frustrated to say the least I need a little help and a cold beer I have the beer I just need the help supposed to be 107 Sun here

Just to be clear--The blower stopped working, so you replaced it with all wires color matched. Now the compressor kicks out.  The compressor did not do this before, right.  So, with the old blower, the compressor kept pumping even though the blower had stopped, or at lease kept going until the evaporator froze up?

When the blower motor quit I turned the unit off Lin what happen to motor was the standard bs for Penguins the bolts broke that hold the motor to the brackets that bolt to bottom of the unit to hold it in place then the motor stops when the blower fans drops down and binds up the motor still runs but you can not buy the bolts any longer

It is not the capacitor nothing wrong with the old one but I bought a new capacitor anyway I sure hope CW is open Sun anyone need a new blower motor , both new fans and a new shroud for a Penguin make you a helluva deal almost 300 bucks invested in this piece of $#!% in 2 weeks now I know why they are throw away units lol

I don't know what it is but would try jumping the thermostat to see if the compressor stays on, or look for other ways the compressor might get shut down feedback from blower or evaporator.  If you changed the capacitor, you could try putting the old one back also.  Do the color coded wires on the new blower look like they are going to the same places as on the old one.  This would be a better project for cooler weather!

is the cap rated at a lower VAC...higher value# is good...lower will not work.

is there a start/run delay timer relay for the ac...try bypassing it....

is there one (a start/run delay relay) in the t-stat....old ones did not have them...alot of new digital ones do....maybe they are workig against each other....try jumpering around the t-stat...

Thanks guys the penguins have a dual run capacitor along with the start capacitor I have changed both but I now have the problem solved now

I removed all the new parts and tossed the piece of $#!% and replaced it with a new lo/pro Coleman cost me more than the Penguin but doing a great job too

good luck

I get frustrated also. And I share my opinion of products.  If they want more positive response  is simple build it better!   Bob
