I guess wr will ride out Isaac in our bus. We are suppose to be down close to Miami right now. Going to wait til worse of srorm passes. Staying at J at Ft. Pierce. Anyone else in the area?
Rode out a strom in 06 in an eagle about 8 miles from where you are. NEVER AGAIN!

It looks like the worst of the storm will be in the Gulf west of Tampa. I wouldn't worry about Miami too much. But in eastern NC we'd much rather be on the western side of a hurricane than the eastern so that may be a factor. Also, they're saying that the land-mass effects of Hispanola and Cuba will reduce the storms strength so S. Florida should have an easier ride than when it make landfall on the Gulf Coast (Mobile to W Fl panhandle seems to be near the center of the "guessed area".)
yep, they are saying tropical storm watch here right now. I wouldnt want to be in the bus if it were an actual hurricane. I will worry more about tornadoes now. On the bright side, we will have electricity, lol.
Rode out the edge of a hurricane at Flager beach one year, just about got seasick from all the rockin! That was before I had an adjustable leveling system. Bus was full of sand after the storm.
Don't pay much mind to the major news channels, there goal is not to keep you informed but to keep you watching, need to keep those ratings up!!

I live just up 95 in the Melbourne area. You should be fine but I would expect a lot of rain and thunderstorms (and you're right about tornadoes). If the track speed holds, Monday would probably be a good day to head south as the storm should be due west in the gulf.
Hopefully that works out, as that will already put us a day behind.

We lived in Naples for 12 years, and when we first moved there I set up a back feed system so our bus gen-set could feed the house during a big storm or hurricane. And yes we saw many major storms, but about the second year in we realized that all we had to do was stock up the bus and stay out there (along side the house) where we had A/C and tv no matter what. It was fun and exciting but never seemed to be dangerous. (We had no large trees that could fall on the bus on our property.) We had food, water and entertainment. The person above was right, all the media does is hype you up so you will watch their channel.
Our advice is get in a safe place from falling things and don't worry, the storms don't last all that long. They move through pretty quickly because there are no mountains to hold them in place.

Please note that chart only shows the probability of hurricane-force winds (75mph or greater). Here in Melbourne we've had one band of the storm pass through today and it brought some 20-30mph gusts. However, the storm looks to be heading further west than previously thought, so that's a good sign - for Florida at least.

i am in the 4-5" rain belt. we've weatered that before.
there are actually TWO coleman type pop-ups but they have acess tothe rec/laundry etc. one has 3-4 kids.
our friend Laurie manages a days inn with a restaurant and bar and a generator.....pet friendly.. ;D
got a room for a week if needed.......gratis... :)
If this thing stalls in either direction...South Carolina,Georgia,
Panhandle...even NOLA could be in for a rainy wollipin...prayers for all.
But my hope is it just craps out.... :(
We rode out hurricane Irene last summer in Pennsylvania. It was incredible. Here you think your bus is a big, heavy, beast and the storm treats it like it's a Geo Metro. In any case, I didn't sleep a wink that night. Bus took on a small amount of water forced through the rivet holes on the sides, but all-in-all it was doable. Truth is, a bus is a crazy place to spend in a hurricane...but some of us are just that crazy.
Well....looks like we are going to take all the damage from another hurricane...If all the forcasts are right..Katrina got us head on now on the east side for issac...But the good news :D,no longer have any insurance ..last company canceled after 1 year and no one else will write policy..Ms wind and Flood pool wants 2600.a month.lol...but now I qualify for fema..Wife finally says quit using it for storage and sell whatevers left this time..gg04
I feel for those in the gulf that are in line for this storm. We had some wind, but not bad, and lots of rain, days of it in fact. Never seen so much. We worked yesterday in the rain, no choice. We have been in bad storms before while working and in the parking lot at walmart. Fact is, I rather be in the bus than in the walmart when it is going on. We were in Ms. a year back when the tornadoes came through. It was bad, and thankfully we didnt get a direct hit, but if I rather be in the bus than in the store or in a truckstop. Been in that situation too. Yall stay safe. Isaac go away!
