Title: Directv FYI
Post by: skihor on August 21, 2012, 11:22:28 AM
I recently had an issue with our Dish Network equipment. I was informed that they do not support the RV industry in any shape or form. I contacted Direct TV and was assured that they do support the RV industry, so I paid a small cancelation fee, (only 1 month left). Set up the installation with Direct TV and all was good... Until the installer showed up. I was informed that he couldn't touch the RV, (bus), at all, and, that I was misinformed about the company's RV support. Since we were with Dish for the last 5 years I re-signed with them.

My Directv tech sat on the couch and watched as the dome searched for the sat and then watched it set up.

Said it was the easiest install he ever had.

I'm not sure what there is to set up.  We just take our receiver out of the house and plug it in.  You have to set the satellite to the right type, but that is it. If you have matching dishes on the house and bus you don't even have to do that.

One advantage of Directv is the dish doesn't have to toggle between satellites for different stations.  So you can record and watch at the same time if you have dual tuners.

There are a lot of helpful people over at http://www.satelliteguys.us/ (http://www.satelliteguys.us/). There is a whole section on the Dish Network.

I have not asked a bus/rv question, but they have helped me out with other hardware issues.
